Man I love Fishing Strawberry! - TheWeekender - 10-17-2011 Headed out to the berry for the 7th time this summer on sat night. Got on the water just before dark, had to fish for an hour. Found out that my boat batteries were dead. Good thing I bought that kicker motor. Couldnt go too far so we just trolled around the bay at the soldier creek ramp. Fished from 9:30-12:30 sunday morning and caught 10, mostly bows. They were Thick and healthy. Got 3 (17-18") 1.5-2lbs. Called it a day when the wind picked up. All were caught from 15-20ft. Water Temp was 52.5. Every time Im at the berry I catch Fish, thats why its my favorite lake out here. Have caught double digits every trip this season. Man I love fishing Strawberry! Were you trolling, spincasting or jigging? [signature] Re: [EvilTyeDyeTwin] Man I love Fishing Strawberry! - TheWeekender - 10-17-2011 We were trolling needle fish and spoons. Trolled the narrows on the south side. Stayed in 10 to 15 feet of water and speed of 2.9 to 4.2 mph. Used jointed brown rapala 100 feet behind boat. Boated 36. Kept 1. Lots of 21 to 21 3/4in range. My son had to keep this one [signature] Re: [pac-a-load-pete] Man I love Fishing Strawberry! - TheWeekender - 10-18-2011 Wow, what a beast!! I may have to switch up my tactics. Were u just trolling those rapalas on top of the water? [signature] Re: [TheWeekender] Man I love Fishing Strawberry! - pac-a-load-pete - 10-18-2011 Yes we were trolling with just the lure. That smaller jointed rapala will dive 6 to 8ft. This is one of my favorite ways to fish in the fall and spring. Let's just say I'm kind of an old fart and have boated lots of big fish using this technique. J-9 was the size we were using. I've caught more big fish on the J-13. Really important to read your graph or finder and stay in that 8 to 15ft depth.Hope this helps. Here is a photo of what this young man caught at Lucerne in 12ft of water using a J-13 Black&Silver [signature] Re: [pac-a-load-pete] Man I love Fishing Strawberry! - sinergy - 10-18-2011 Whaaat ?
