Kind of stumbled on this in the last month or so.... .totally by accident i figured out that by drifting my fly down stream while keeping my line tight and as high out of the water as i can. i let it drift a few feet then tug on it a few times then let it drift again.the fly kinda skates on the top of the water and dips just below the surface and they just nail it! it's becoming my go to technique when there not surfacing. seems to work best with a small caddis in faster water. Not sure why it works? But for me it has.
