As I mentioned, I'm currently using the "rope-loop" and cord method, but LIKE your attachment method! I can see where the rack isn't "going to go anywhere", and would be pretty stable once the weight of your rods/reels are in them.
I'm thinking that maybe an "L" or a "T" on the end of the short piece - where it butts up against the tube - might further act as a bumper? Hmmm... something I'm going to play with for sure...
Also noticed the lack of screws... did you glue the sections together, or was the tight-fit sufficient?
