Well I was able to score a gently used Caddis uboat (used once per previous owner) with plans on storing it in Grand Junction CO for a little fishin this summer. I proceeded to add a little pimp to it. I made a three rod holder and a tool/rod holder. The tool rack will hold a net, lip grippers, pliers, and an active rod. The active rod holder is not glued in for free swiveling and removal for storage.
Next on the list is to work on mamatrouts motor mount for her FC4 and pimp out the nephews birthday gift. I am giving him a Grigg V6000.

Liked the way that you attached your holders to your tube (pins/d-rings) - I have the "rope-loop/cord-secured" set-up.
In your set-up, how do you protect your tube from the short PVC pieces that butt up to the tube (picture 3)?
Do you still (have to) use elastic cord to secure the bottom of your rack?

I sand the ends smooth. No I don't use the cord to attach the bottom. They are pretty stable. I have thought of taking sch 20 1/2" and flattening it but not sure if it would actually fit over the d rings.

As I mentioned, I'm currently using the "rope-loop" and cord method, but LIKE your attachment method! I can see where the rack isn't "going to go anywhere", and would be pretty stable once the weight of your rods/reels are in them.
I'm thinking that maybe an "L" or a "T" on the end of the short piece - where it butts up against the tube - might further act as a bumper? Hmmm... something I'm going to play with for sure...
Also noticed the lack of screws... did you glue the sections together, or was the tight-fit sufficient?

I used glue on all but the rod tubes, rod holder, and the arm holding the rod holder. Both for easy storage and movement.
