in july the chinook salmon move into the stretch of the salmon river that runs through challis and the fishing can be amazing. from what i hear catching a King on a fly rod is like trying to catch a bus and im sure its accurate because they put up one heck of a fight on spinning gear. camping access is awesome in challis the deer gulch campground has more than enough room to accomodate a little BFT get togather and it was free last year. make sure you bring plenty of light weight long sleeve shirts and long pants when your not wearing waders and a mosquito net for your face heck im even gonna make sure my hands are covered cause the mosquitos are the worst i have ever seen and ive seen bad mosquitos i lived in louisiana. and mosquito spray doesnt do any good its just like steak seasoning for them.
