yes if you click on that you will indeed be taken to a page to show who is currently on line.
flat mode it the selection you made (auto) in your user profile page. you can eather select flat mode or you can select thread mode.
the difference is how you will veiw the post.
to change it click on user profile then Desplay Profile
scroll down to Default post desplay and select one or the other. you can experiment with it to see which one works best for you.
