Closest place to provo for squirrel or pheasant hunting

I am completely new to hunting. I don't even own a gun yet.

1. Where is the closest place to provo where I can hunt squirrel or pheasents?

2. Is there something else I can hunt that is closer to provo?

3. How much will a license cost?

4. Is a ruger 10/22 good enough for the job?
