Yes the edges are very soft. We had to search around to find a good spot to cross. The water level has dropped about 12-18 inches as indicated from residual ice still frozen on some of the rocks. With the warmer that usual temps, jumping on the ice might be a little difficult.
Step lightly and carry a really big ice sled! That way you can use it as a boat.
In all reality things should be just fine. The lake is a reservoir which raises and fills consistantly. There have been some frigid overnight temps the last couple of days, so I am not even considering the idea of having problems on the ice.
I have a pretty big group heading this way for the clinic, no turning back now!
