while I get a kick out of fishing for crappie, Deap water roaches are my favorite.
I pulled one up thirty years ago this month that was 14 inches long. thought I was going to break my rod. Didnt know I had a state record for the year. may even have had an all time state record, I will never know, because we cooked him up, One inch thick blue gill steaks is hard to beat. [
] we could only cook half a gill at a time, one slab of gill filled the entire frying pan...[shocked] this aint no fish tail, some where is picture of that fish laying on my hand with its tail running up to the joint of my arm...
I have been looking for that picture for about 5 years now, tho I havent seen it since it was taken. I know it is around some where...
Ya gotta love them gills, when they get big, the get almost as tall as they are long. the one I got was every bit ten inches tall.
a ten inch long gill is something to be respected, not just for eating but the fight they will put up. and Yep, I have had gills jump right out of the water after I have hooked them just like bass... tickles me silly to see them do that... LOL
