I couldn't wait Obi.  I called the Weber Basin Water Conservancy and talked with the engineer for this project.  Here is the information he gave me.

This project involves Federal Grant money and has to be used this year or it goes away.  The old pipe is a siphon pipe and isn't sufficient to feed the needed water west of the Bay during extreme drought.  The new pipe will be a direct feed pipe and needs to be placed at a deeper depth and will do so at a slightly different location than the current pipe.  A coffer damn will be constructed around the area of the SW corner to allow the new pipe to be installed without causing a breach of the existing dike.

The project will begin with a drop in water level to an elevation of 4,216 ft starting August 11.  Currently the water level is somewhere between 4,222 & 4,223 ft.  So at most, it will drop another 7 ft.  I haven't checked the depth of the harbor at either the South or North Marina.  I don't know for sure, but think they are both in the neighborhood of about 10 to 12 ft.  So, a 7 ft drop should allow most folks to launch their boats during the project.  The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of December 2025.

I’m shedding tears right now while thinking the water level could drop just enough fishing boats could still launch at lowered level, but wake and surf boats can’t.

Seriously though, if ‘they’ don’t breach existing dike to lay pipe through, did the engineer say they are boring it through?
