You're not wrong.
Think about it, even if you just split it like 5 ways with 4 other people, it's about $50 each. How much are launch fees, plus gas, for a day of fishing at Strawberry? Probably $40 or so. But then you don't have to drive a trailer up there, spend time launching it, docking it, parking the trailer, registering boat and trailer, etc. etc. and that's after you've paid for the boat in the first place.
