Yuba Perch

The biggest problem with yuba is that once the water comes down a bit there is no cover for perch or minnows. YUba is a desert under water except for a few spots. Its kinda like desert storm for prey they have nowhere to hide.Jordanelle and those other place have excellent cover for perch. When yuba got drained it looked like the sand dunes. Some brush grew but nowhere enough. Also its not just pike and walleye eating other fish its perch to.Tubedude caught one perch last year with a minnow of a tiger trout in its mouth.Plus they are eating each other right now.As for the trout they only got big because they were feasting heaily on the fat head minnows. I caught some nice bows outta ther and they would spit out those minnows. Also they would come close to shore and you would see them hasing them all over.Once the perch desimated the fatheads the big bows got skinny. Now they are long and skinny.

I say plant as many trout in there as you like!! Just more food for the eyes and pike…hehehe

I’m with ocean, water and cover is the biggest factor. when yuba drops just a few feet there’s no bushes in the water. perch spawn in the weeds, no weeds no spawn, and you have a crash. yuba needs to have cover in alot of differant depthes, to cover the high and low water periods. later chuck

I say let them put about 100 alligator gar in there and lety them munch on the carp!!
