that was me in the boat that just went out… went along the ice edge to take a gander, doesent look more then 2 inches thick… we were just getting our maintenance run in for thew year… water temp was 40.7 in case any one was interested
I was thinking that might be you, your brother use to drive that boat around. looks like you had some problems firing up the trolling motor?
FYI we ran north along eagle beach towards the light pole (i think, TS knows exactly where we were im not familiar with that lake at all) and then ran back to the marina a few times just to stretch her legs… dident get a good opportunity to do that at BL this year with the fog and ice. PLENTY of room to get your boats ready for the season.
he turned the on/off selector switch to off and forgot to turn it back on, once i turned it on she works like a champ as usual.
Yeah it was nice to get out there again. That ice is not going to last long. We went from the Marina to just north of Eagle Beach and back a couple times. Marked quite a few fish, a little too windy to do any fishing, but she will be wide open by next weekend for sure!!!

That is good news! about your motor.
Anyone going out to do the same if the wind switches out of the south be aware that the ice sheet will cut you off to the entrance of the marina, just be careful out there tell the ice is all the way off.be ready to make a run for the marina in quick order.

Wow, that ice came off from that marina quick, we were drilling holes threw 8 to 10" of ice there just last weekend. Looks like the ice has move in to cover the exit of the marina, when did you see the last person go out there?
Looks like you can get to the light pole now!!! I bet all ice is gone by tomorrow.

If this wind keeps up I think you will be right the whole ice sheet has pulled off the north dike. This URL will keep updating every time it is viewed.

That ice doesn’t look like it could hurt a boat? Looks to be slush ice. bet a boat could go right threw that stuff.

I’m stuck at work to. LOL! Or I would give it a go? some might be a little thicker but it’s not a big solid sheet anymore and that tells me it’s really thin. waves must have broke it all up, you can see it piled up on the south dike pretty good threw the cam. [fishin]
I put the Toon in the north marina for the first time Fri and there was still ice surrounded by about 80’ of clear water around the edges, the inlet was also locked with ice. I returned Sun and all ice in the marina was gone and the lake was open for about 200 yds out. There were a couple of boats checking things out but the wind was blowing pretty hard out of the north so they didn’t stay out. As for water depth, the channel is approx 21’ deep and it shouldn’t take long to fill. I graphed a few fish moving on the bottom but it’s still a little early.
To you guys who have fished it a lot, how is it just after the ice comes off? Next week is spring break and I’ve got an itch that needs to be scratched! I was thinking that a slow drop shot may pull in a couple fishies, maybe with a gulp minnow?
