yeah u hear ya there dave, and realy when ya git right down to it it,s thesame with a fancy guns na the person who gits out there and hunt, hunt.S WITH THE GUN GRAMP OR UNC GIVE EM AND CAN GIT A DEER JUST AS GOOD with the old one as a new one. haha know what i mean. or all the fancy new clothers hha when there tryin ot stay dry, hun, hahah i,m out htere in my rubber boots with my neoprene socks underem or my neopne boot i got goes inside, with my huntin jacket and yellow rubber rain coat nad brithches nad i,m dry clearn thru and theyre soakin wet clearn thru. haha. there ain,t nothin more water proof than rubber!! my huntin britches under them an i,m so warm and toastie haha and DRY! AND I CAN STAY OUT ALL DAY TILL DARK, AND THERE GOIN HOME AND CHANGIN. or don,t come back. haha ain,t that so true?? i don,t know how many rainstorms rode home from new york way over to new hampshire, then ny again in down pours. my leathers under neath and the rubbers over em and we was dry an warm all the way home. others arejust in there leathers nothin round there neck and the water runnin right down inside, orthese fancy gortex expensive out fits that they git not een half way home and there soaked to the bone and cold. glad i know how to dress haha but them shops sure do like sellin that expensive stuff though don,t they too bad the stores don,t do it right. probably don,t cause once ya git the rubber stuff people dont ever have to buy anythin else. haha well i know! they ain,t foolin me and jack none. haha later now that i made my point. hha and the old rubber boots e use to wear to school over your shoes or inside boots. keep your feet dry and head too. that holds your heat in. and your feetare the most important. right!! yessa. later have fun fishin!! the leather boots they ride the bike with are only good fera little while till they soak thru, that,s when we wear the boots too. seen to many freezin, on theur bike and that,s not fun. i might look silly to em but by god i,m dry and warm.!! later mare[:)][:)][;)]
oh also member, when even your out on htat lake nad the winds whippin, and ya got your huntin clothes and shirt pants long johns on under everythin, member ya layer stuff, but the rubber is also a good wind breadker. the wind wont go thru too if ya do it up right. clearn right up around your neck, and the hood put on, too and put another hat over that too. to keep the warmth in. don,t matter if it gits wet its hold in from uner neath with the hood the hat just to keep it tighter on your head.if need be,. we got ours at yard sales or flea markets fer little of nothin. we got em big so we can wear the other clothes under neath and ya not goin to no beauty contest anyways. your goin to do what ya love the mnost and be out there comfortable while everybody else is freezin. haah bet you,ll be the last one standin haha later[:)][;)]
hey dave, it was 19 below here with a wind chill factor of 34, at island pond it was 27 below with a wind chill factor of 44 below. aint that somethin worst so fer. and it,s suppose to be goin fer another week. what is it where you are?? terrible is it?? later. keep warm!! [:)]

that should give you some indication of how worm it has been here. On the average it has been too worm.

I drilled a few holes in the shallows and found from 2-4 inches. not enough for me to walk over the deap end yet.
NOPE NOT HARDLY FER ME EITHER! by god this mornin there ought to be enough. it was terrible. want to take a drive over to echo, this weekend, look at the lakes. there 3 of em but 2 we can fish ice fishin, and the othr we can,t. dont know why, just don,t allow it. like to go over and look at the new style shanties the boys come up with, and haven,t seen alot of em in years. cliffs workin alot! he,s a plumber ! just like i was! haha and alot of freeze ups!! if only the lakes would freeze ha dave?? haha they will just be careful out there, all of ya. have you heard if lonehunters gone yet?? what he,s gittin?? later the couch hound and me are stayin right here. haha today! i’ve been working every day since new years mare , i get a couple hours if i’m luckey after dinner .

I was mistaken. I took a closer look at the rod today and the reel is part of it. Might need to donate this outfit to someone else. Just picked the kid up a new 4’ rod for his 6th birthday. Let’s see if he has better control with this one. I’ll hold onto the small one until I’m sure he can 100% handle the one that’s taller than he is.
dont throw it away, it will be a collectors item some day. and he can always pass it on to his rugrat.
if you have an old rod laying around the hould cut it to about 24-28 inches in lenth. go out side and find a tree branch about half inch in diamiter. cut a section about 12-14 inches in lenth. drill a hole through one end and epoxy the rod in to the hole.
you can use electric tape to tape on your reel. most of the older rods dont have a mount for reels and are taped in place.
you could also use a couple thin brass pluming nuts , put them over the new homade butt and twist to tighten , they just gotta be a little oversized and not over-tightend . it holds perfectly !
