You don’t need felt soles for tubing, but if you also wade streams then you can use them for both.
Most tubers just buy less costly “flats boots” or diving booties. All you need is a hard sole to protect the soft pocket feet on your waders. In fact, those cheap “reef walkers” sold at Wally Wor****ld work just fine.
