What works for Trout?

i like hookin a piece of line bout ten inches long to the main line and stickin a little minner on it. i put the size 8 hook onto that, and hook the minner under the top fin, i do that with 3 different distances apart, with your good sixe weight to the bottom line and hit the bottom with it,. that,s also how i fish fer the smelt. we can do that here ice fishin, but don,t know if youcan thee, with 3 anyways. if ya can,t use what ya can and do it that way,. i like it and always has worked fer me. i find usin live bait, is the way to go. ya never know what your gonna catch and it,s natural. somethin they know. and won,t be scat of. i caught goood many big rainbows with those small sminners ya use fer the small smelt like in my lake. their only 1/2 inch long. but they must be good and tender to the fish cause i,ve caught some of the biggest fish i,ve ever caught with those little minners. have fun. it,s good to experiment too but i like them. have fun no matter what ya do. have a nice christmas. later

haha guees i better use a bigger hook huh?? haha i told him 8. iforgot he was goin fer BIG TROUT. HAHA yeah and a bigger minner. haha ya use his hook and bigger minner than mine haha. maybe a whale. WILL DO. but i still like settin it up like mine though. with the bigger hook and minner. we also have baby suckers you can git, and small perch. i,ve used, and bluegill, fer the big ones too. like the silver with black stripe best fer my trout though, and have good size ones in the bait stores here. i like these minners the best.[:)] don,t know what you got there but as long as its, somthin they know, would be fime i believe. have fun.

The kind of trout he is referring to are from a special lake her in SoCal. They plant them in there anywhere from 5 to @30lbs.(rainbows) Pretty good size and pretty good fight too.

JAPPY CHRISTMAS!! IT,S AFTER 12 HAHA SANTA,S READY TO BRING PRESENTS OUT AND EAT THE COOKIES AND MILK HAHA. WELL I GUESS THERE GOOD SIZE THEN, YA STILL DON,T USE MINNERS?? Ya could use a bobber and a weight at the end of the swivel and let him hang. do ya sometimes do that?? have a good day today. later[:)]

I’ve never fishing SARL and don’t know anything about it, but it sounds like it’s one of those special permit California lakes that are periodically stocked with catchable to large size trout.

If that’s the case, I’ve wondered how chicken feed in an egg sack would work in those cases. Would it be allowed? If so, has anyone ever tried it? Probably doesn’t sound very sporting, but doesn’t seem much different from letting chicken entrailes fester for catfishing.

That is a pay to play lake. No license is required to fish. They don’t have any regs on bait either. They do stock bigger trout that are from private hatcheries. DFG has no regulation over this lake.
