where are you from? I have a tube that I am willing to sale. it is a caddis. I am not sure what model it is. it is blue and black. it has two pockets on the arms and one on the back. It is a round style tube. it is used and on one of the pockets, the zipper is busted, but can be fixed for cheap at a dry cleaner.
Hey, loanfish, good to have you drop in on our little board here. Glad you have had good luck with your neoprenes. Most of the problems people have had with Hodgmans have been with the “wadelights”…with the neoprene feet on fabric uppers.
Glad to hear you are catchin’ the tubing bug. Could be worse. I think you will survive it…if we can get you fixed up in a good system. The best advice I can give is to just let everybody know you are looking and then keep reading the posts and the classified ads. You might also drop in to some of the better tackle shops and look on their bulletin boards, if they have one, to see if anyone is posting one for sale.
My experience has been that once someone has a good tube, they usually don’t get rid of it until it’s worn out…unless they are upgrading to a bigger or better one. That’s about your best hope right now.
If budget is a concern, and all you can find to start with is an inexpensive round tube, then take what you can get and learn in that. If you find a good deal on a U-boat or V-boat later, you can usually sell the round one for what you paid…or keep it as a backup for a new recruit you want to take fishing.
Good luck in your search, and come on back to this board any time with any questions you have. We can help you save a lot of time and frustration by helping you learn the right way.
actually, I really didnt care where I sold it to. I am in southern california.
No I dont have a pic of it. I dont know how else to describe it to you. it is in good condition. but it is a round style tube. to tell you the truth, I would much rather invest in a pontoon or U shaped tube. I think it is in your best interest if you bought one of those. however, if you are looking for a cheap(price, not quality) float tube that is reliable, well… “I am your man” as the saying goes.
We’ve digressed a bit, so I thought I’d put the subject back on waders. I’ve got a pair of FlyTech neoprene waders that I’ve had for over 5 years now. I didn’t know much about waders when I bought them, and they’re a helluva lot heavier than most of the waders I’ve been looking lately. The spec sheet said Titanium coated and the word cool raced through my mind. Now, whenever warmer weather comes around the only words that come to mind are hot and sweaty. I must say that I’ve been really hard on them. I leave them in the hot sun, toss them on the ground and walk all over them, and just throw them in the shed when I’m done, but they’ve never sprung a leak. They are stocking-foot, but it’s all the same material and it’s all stitched the same from top to bottom. The seam tape on the inside of the waders has started peeling and if I 'd ever get off my arse I’d glue it all back on. I think if I were to go looking for a new set today I’d probably spend some time looking at the FlyTech brand again. They’re owned by Stearns and you can look at their stuff at www.stearnsinc.com .
