No, that would only get rid of the Junies that are currently in the lake. They would then have to ramp up the hatchery facilities to be able to produce tens of millions of June Suckers each and every year to ensure their survival. There wouldn’t be a penny left over to manage any game fish species.

For the benefit of newbies on the board, neither of us is serious in our rantings. I would never advocate the indiscriminate dumping of potentially hazardous non-native species into ANY water. And I am sure you don’t really believe the feds would fund a massive hatchery project for the Junies. Or do you? We’ve both seen worse.

They’re not going to let them become extinct. Exactly what measures they’ll use, and to what extreme, no one knows. But even if the only surviving specimens are in aquariums, hatcheries, or ponds, the June Sucker will continue to exist.
