Time is Near

I got hit with a $75.00 charge. I’m heading to San Juan Elk Ridge in October. Hoping to find a big boy.

Looks like my Dad and I both drew deer tags for the Gorge area. Don’t know if it’s rifle, muzzleloader or archery but we drew tags. Better news than I thought as my normal CC was expiring so I used a different one.

I drew out on Vernon archery deer with 1 point. Lucky. My ears are open to any info on this hunt if anybody has any. I’ve only rabbit hunted out there a few times over the years. I was looking for an easier draw so I could get back in the elk draw when my waiting period is up.

Me and my old man drew bookclifs deer tags. This is the first limited entry tag I have ever drawn Im stoked. It only took 11 years.

Zero for me… looks like a Spike bull tag and maybe cow tag and a landowner doe tag.

Cache muzzy deer. And more points

I don’t know about this drawing stuff. A few years back I lost elk points and they told me to produce my old receipts from the unsuccessful drawing. Well of course I didn’t keep my receipts for being unsuccessful. Then this year I got my Muzzy deer tag but I also got an archery deer tag for an area I’ve never been to and I don’t own a bow. The draw can be almost as adventurous as the hunt. Good luck to everyone.

Probably a little late on this reply as I left last Weds. for a week’s vacation at Starvation and just returned yesterday. I’m sure by now you have found out if you drew any tags or not. I took my son down to where the wife and I killed our Toms a couple weeks ago, hunted several days in the high winds and the birds were getting pretty smart this late in the season. They would answer my calls but wouldn’t come in. We finally had it all come together the last evening we were going to hunt before turning our interest to fishing. We had 5 jakes come charging in to my B Mobile Decoy with a real tail and they went nuts. My son singled one out and made a good clean kill at 25 yards. The walleye fishing at Starvation is great if you are not looking for fish over 16 to 17 inches with most in the 10 to 13 in. range. Hopefully that will change by next week when I head back down again for 5 more days. We did get into some big perch the last day we were there with very few under 9 1/2 inches. We kept 19 the last day we fished for them that went from 9 1/2 to 11/1/2 in. The trout go crazy over pretty much any crank you troll and any place on the lake.

Looking forward to seeing a picture of your Muzzy Bull when it gets back from the taxidermist.

Hey Robby, I got some good news, I am pretty sure I will get a private property Doe tag that I will donate to a disabled hunter, I can take them out and its a for sure hunt, no walking needed. But even better, I just talked to a friend of mine and he has a bunch of land in the mountains 600+ acres and he gets two land owner Cow Elk tags every year and it sounds like he will give one up or maybe both for disabled vets to hunt. He is gonna check with the DWR folks and find out. I will let you know as soon as he finds out…
