the hula popper!!!

Sorry Perchking I gonna have to go with the Zarro Spook. I have caught many large fish with that one. Once I got a 3.2lb smallie and about a 1.5lb rock bass on the same cast. I SWEAR IT"S NOT A FISH TAIL.

It’s Zara Spook but us old guys just call it the “Spook”. Far and away the best color is the Baby Bass Sparkle. In reality they mostly only see the bottom of the lure so white or gloss pearl should be just as good. Great lure, versatile, fish it slow, walk the dog, sit and pop, Buzz twitch. We all love the “SLURP” when they suck 'em down [;)]

There is another walking bait I believe Heddon had sued the Producer co. over for being too similar to the spook. It was called the Mega-Ghost. It was a little bigger than the spook but it had a very loud rattle, later they changed to a croaker. That bait without a doubt has caught more fish for me than anything I have ever thrown. Unfortunately it is no longer in production. It is ok for fresh water but in the salt it can get out of control. I bend the barbs over or take off the trebles and put a single hook on the back. If anyone has seen these lures please let me know. PRODUCER MEGA_GHOST, You are so right about the white. I usually paint all my producers white.

Yeah Baby! Top water is where it’s at!
I really like using the Berkly Frenzy topwater plug. My favorite is purple on top white on bottom. Take off the split ring and tie up directly to the metal widget thing where the split ring attached for better control of the lure, I get some great splash spit and chug with it’s design, nice chicken feathers on the rear treble for a little extra attraction… That lure has caught more fish for me than any other topwater and they’re inexpensive which helps me enjoy it that much more.
I’ll have to try your suggestion though. Thanks.

I’ve always taken that split ring from the nose and added it to the other split ring on the rear treble. Sort of drops it down just right.

I can’t stand the hula popper. Never caught anything on it. I am new to fishing for bass so maybe I am not doing it right. Anyways I favor only one lure and that is the Jitterbug. Black and Yellow are my favorite ones. the 5/8 oz. ones. I have a weedless one too. Jitterbugs are the best. I am 20 and well I was fishing this summer with one and one guy said he had a bunch of them but he never used them anymore. I find that not many people use them even though they use to be popular. I figure since they are so old fashioned and most people like buzz baits that the good old jitterbug just is not used that it would do the trick since it is already perfected and used so little that it is odd. It sure ticks the fish off. They really just explode from the water. The jitterbug in my opinion can not be beat.
