Strawberry kokes and big cuts

I certainly hope you will keep posting Robert. I think others feel the same. Thank you for all of you help and for all of your posting. PLEASE keep posting.

It takes guts to admit you almost sank your own boat.
I have a certain routine I follow that is bulletproof until it isn’t…
Want to trade elk hunting tips for fishing tips?

I wouldn’t leave if I were you. BFT is a great group of fisher folk. There are sometimes when there are misunderstandings due to the fact that one cannot always readily tell what is humor, sarcasm or a serious response. That’s just the nature of an internet forum. BFT can be a fishing family if you want it to be. But just like a real family sometimes there are squabbles and disagreements…but then you get over it and keep moving forward from there.

In the future, I’d suggest sending a Private Message to a member for more specific fishing information. I’ve almost always received positive responses and can get more detail about fishing spots without it being broadcast to the world.

In the end, if a member decides not to post the exact location of their honey-hole, then you have to respect that. Would you want to give up the location to your favorite elk water hole on a public forum that has thousands of viewers daily? Likely not.

Keep fishing!

Good post! I was just over at Bear Lake and our boat was catching cutthroats at about the same depth in similar FOW. I’ll have to head to Strawberry one of these times.

Where were the mods when this firestorm started off? Sorry I should have seen this earlier and maybe I could have headed off some hard feelings and misunderstandings… We have a rule at BFT that says no one has to provide a location and no one should harass them about said locations. The comments that have been provided are very accurate on the fact that we have a ton more eyes watching this board than you know of and when we let out a location it will honestly be pounded with too much over pressure. The more you post the more times you will see that this can happen to your favorite spots, so please respect everyone’s right to keep a location to themselves and please don’t be offended when they may not tell you on the open forum or even on a PM. It’s really cool how much some folks like Robert (Liketrolling) have been willing to share with us, learn from that and try PM’s (personal messages) they can share a lot more that way. I hope both of you will continue with us and we will all be better off. Please see the misunderstanding that has happened here and don’t let that poison either of you from the good that can come from working together on this forum… Sorry I was working and didn’t see this post any sooner… Jeff

Hey, BE, I have been up at Strawberry fishing - I don’t get great service up there. Just wanted you to know that most of us that replied to your post were not “angry”, we were just defending a great fisherman that has helped many on this forum.

That said, if your style is to enter a forum and malign one of the best posters, you are probably right, BFT is not for you. It almost seemed to us that you wanted to start controversy.

I suspect however that we may have misjudged you and your intent - probably because you were new to the forum - easy error to fix. If your intent is to learn from others, contribute when you can, BFT may be for you. Contributing may be as simple as I went to this water, caught these fish - or got skunked, still had a great time. No one expects more.

Members are very willing to help when they can. Some is in the asking. What lure did you use, what color, water depth/temp, how deep were the fish? All great questions. It doesn’t matter if everyone on the lake is fishing pink dodgers and squids at 45’ in 77 FOW, from a Tracker boat. However exact locations can cause problems with too many people showing up the next day. Robert’s friends already have a good idea where he is fishing - they may fish the same area - others too - but friends and good sportsmen/women are always courteous.

When you are learning a new water, particularly for Kokanee, knowing where someone found them yesterday can be very encouraging. Use the private message (PM). I suspect Robert (others too) would have had a different response - he helped me in the past.

Apology accepted - do not feel that you are not welcome on BFT. We really are a pretty good group.
