STELLWAGEN BANK,MA- Cod Fishing 2/16/02
Very windy weather conditions prevented cod trip departures during this past week.
However, the wind and sea conditions did calm down for Earl Harris’s group from Jamaica,NY on Saturday.
Capt. Scott and Al found the fish early in the shoal-water feeding on sand eels and herring. Good numbers of “Market” cod in the 10-12 pound size came over the rails for the angler’s jigging in the 80-120 depth.
After the morning bite slowed, the group opted to move to the deep-water to the east of the Bank. Earl hoped to get a wolfish and wasn’t disappointed. Wolffish, 6 haddock , cod and a few cusk added to the variety in the catch for the day.
