This past Wednesday 1/24, Yong Chun’s group from
Englewood, NJ and friend Saul Sung experienced some
the best cod fishing of the season. Medium cod from
8-12 pounds nailed the jigs and teaser rigs on
Stellwagen’s shoal water. The first drift lasted
two hours with the anglers banging doubles all the
way. Six steakers over twenty and a few pollock
rounded out the catch. On Saturday 1/27, Ed Estien’s
group from Long Island City, NY made their second trip
to the bank in two weeks. A slow drift made fishing
with difficult. Nevertheless, stopping right on top of
the piles of herring and using light jigs enabled the
group to fill all the coolers with 8 to 12 pound cod and a few pollock.
