New Berlin, Wis. - August 8, 2011 Sportsman Channel and Time Warner Cable are teaming up to host a Hunt.Fish.Feed event in Milwaukee on Monday, August 15, serving a special venison and fish dinner at St. Benedict the Moor. Special guest Mayor Tom Barrett will help prepare and serve venison tacos and poached salmon. Hunt.Fish.Feed., created by Sportsman Channel, is a unique outreach program that taps an underutilized food source-game meat and fish donated by sportsmen-to feed those struggling with hunger across America. Milwaukee’s event will utilize 100 lbs of venison donated by Mule Deer Foundation and more than 200 lbs of fresh fish caught during the Brew City Salmon Tournament on Lake Michigan.
“We’re especially excited to bring our Hunt.Fish.Feed. initiative to our hometown community. We look forward to working with our partners at Time Warner Cable and St. Benedict’s to make this a successful and impactful event,” said Todd Hansen, COO of Sportsman Channel. “Programs like Hunt.Fish.Feed provide unique avenues to help the needy, especially during an economic time that finds more and more people in need every day. We are proud to continue to help our citizens in our hometown.”
Unique to this Hunt.Fish.Feed. event is the donation of fish caught during the Brew City Salmon Tournament, one of the region’s largest salmon fishing tournaments, taking place on Milwaukee’s lakefront on Saturday, August 13. Contestants can donate their fish to the Hunt.Fish.Feed. initiative after weighing in their catch for the tournament. Alongside the fish caught at the tournament, the Milwaukee event will also serve venison, a highly nutritious food source, which will be donated by local hunters from the region in cooperation with Mule Deer Foundation.
“Time Warner Cable is thrilled to support this creative and impactful event, and particularly proud that our employees will be on the front lines, serving the guests of St. Ben’s,” said Tom Adams, regional vice president operations - Time Warner Cable Wisconsin. “It’s not every day that two great Wisconsin companies come together to feed hungry Milwaukeeans while celebrating two of our state’s favorite pastimes.”
