Snowing in June Jordanelle

Is it better to not tell the ones that only catch to kill???

Or teach then why you need to release the bigger one and keep only a few smaller one to eat???

Yes I tell lots of people how and where to have a chance to catch bass, in the hopes that others can and will like to see more and bigger bass in the lakes for all…

And at the same time have a chance to catch a fish of a life time and know how it feels to watch it swim away…If no one teaches no one learns…

Its like your lures, if no one show how to use them no one will keep buying then… And the more that know how to use them the more you will sell…

This spring I seen two guys fishing and they stopped me to talk, after a few words one told me that he could see how keeping the bigger bass last spring has hurt the fishing and its harder to find any this year and now he’s releasing all bass over 12"…Thats two that learned, if no one told them how would they find out…

So am I wrong for telling How, When, Where and Why I fish for bass???

Some one said that time spent fishing doesn’t count…I’ll let you know if they are right in a 100 years…[;)][sly]

[ Perhaps the big ones have wised up OR maybe they are so intuned to the enviromental conditions they can recognize or smell a certain anglers boat and/or after shave…LOL
[/quote]** BINGO!**

You are right Cliff, we do need to teach people how to catch fish and that throwing the Big fish back is the best way to keep our fisheries at there best in terms of quality.
Maybe if the people had a better Idea of how long it takes to grow a Bass to say 15" then maybe they would be more apt to return those big fish back to the water.
Thanks for your report Cliff!

So far this year 7 people have been caught with bass they was trying to poach…

I wonder if it was there after shave???

And yes it was I that made the call on them and I had pictures of them…[;)][sly][sly][sly][sly]:sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses:

:sunglasses:Most folks don’t know about that nuclear crawdad oil you use for aftershave…when you do shave. Wasn’t sure I was gonna remain conscious while riding in the truck with you. The fish surrender to you just to keep you from putting any more of that stuff in the water. Talk about biohazards.

But…it works.

Thats why the DWR spends all our fees on replacing planter trout for all the “non licensed” fisherman to keep :).

What I dont get is why those of us who actually pay license fees faithfully every year, boat registration, buy State park passes every year still dont have a voice in what the DWR spends the money on. Yes there are a large number of fisherman who dont fish for slimers

Im all for the community ponds-for kids that is…Everytime I take my kids to Willow Pond its covered with trash and without a doubt the DWR is always citing several for fishing without a license or keeping wayyyyyyyyyy beyond the limit.

Maybe its a good citation trap?

Over the years my wife and me have felt the fight is the whole part about fishing. How much fish can you eat ? If its not fresh and you can’t eat it all back they go for others to catch. When we go on our long range fishing trips to Mexico we let more go than we keep. The excitement of fishing is catching big fish and if you take to many the stock of big fish disappears quickly. In the ocean they are just figuring that you can’t continue to take and not let it replinish itself. Thats why in Japan they have no more Tuna’s so they raid all other waters. I would rather catch a big fish and release them than to keep them. A picture I can continue to look at in hopes of someday soon catching another bigger one. Catch and release forever. If you delete the brood stock and genes of bigger fish you deplete the stock of bigger fish. All fish do not produce big fish. They need education for sure. Peope of today try to get away with what they can, instead of following rules as they were taught.

Thats a good motto. Sometimes people make my blood boil. No thoght to what they are doing or just don’t care.

I’ll have you know I don’t use after shave !!!

It’s the gulp minnow behind each ear…

No last year they planted lots of 2" to 4" rainbows in Jordanelle in Sept. time for all the bass and browns to eat…[;)]

I have had the chance to fish with bassrods for three day’s. I see a few call B.S. on some of his posts. I have not been there to verify the fish stories, but I can say, this guy is a great finess fisherman for bass. Bassrods has alot of tournament experience and he does know bass. The thing is everyone has a different opinion on how to fish. Bassrods will catch fish one day and tell where and what to use and some one will do the same thing the next day and get skunked and call B.S. The difference is presintation, wind , time, pre or post frontal, ect. In bassrods defence of other posts we can learn alot from this guy. Take what you want and throw the rest away. thanks for the info bassrods

Good Job Cliff! More people need to do that. I have reported some in the past but never hear what has happened.

The best way I have found is to call and tell them you will waite for the DWR to call you back and ask how long before they get there and try to keep and eye on the poachers till they get there and take pictures of them…

I will remember that. USE the CAMERA.

Now your going to make my head swell so much I can’t get my hat on…[;)]

But thanks for the comelinents…

All I can say is AMEN!!!
