Shut up Donny!!!
Shut the **%& up Donny!!!
Eight year old’s, Dude.
On topic, sorta, how come there is no longer an option for a lifetime hunting/fishing license? My old man and oldest brother have them, and I curse their faces every year I have to re-up mine. Is there any possibility of them coming back?
Amy- it’s really simple. Add Salt Lake to the agenda.
What is the average attendance in Vernal, Brigham City, Springville, Green River and Beaver?
New proposal sounds good, but I totally agree on meeting in SLC.
I was talking to a buddy of mine about attending a RAC meeting concerning the whole spear fishing thing but I couldn’t find the date of the SLC meetings. I see now that there isn’t one. Strange. I work for a living, I have a family, responsibilities, agendas, etc. I don’t have time to travel to Springville or Brigham City during the week.
I’m not going to lie, ain’t gonna happen. It seems ridiculous that there is not a RAC meeting in Utah’s capitol city. I apologize to all those people to who I said “If you don’t like then go to a RAC meeting”.
I’m not sure if everyone missed this post of her post but if you can’t make it, drop them a Email. It is a lot easier and saves on gas[;)]. See below:
If you’re unable to attend in person, please contact the RAC members for your area and share your thoughts with them directly:

Nope. Ain’t gonna happen. It creates too many problems. The proposed option of buying 5 years worth of license is as close as you’re gonna get. If it passes, the next time there is a proposed increase watch how many people buy the 5 year licenses.
I got that, pretty cool that WE had a direct link to contact the powers that be concerning the RAC meetings but for Joe Shmoe fisherman wanting to express his concerns in fron t of real people an email to someone he/she has never met before has little meaning. I didn’t dig real deep in to the situation but when I wanted to go to a RAC meeting they were too far away. If I had come across an email where I could express my concerns I would have done that, not knowing if a real person would have read it or not or if anybody would really care.
Granted, when I have contacted Drew he has always got back to me in a timely manner and I respect that but if a person wants to go to a meeting to voice his say but can’t make it does he think “well, I sent an email so it’s all good”?
Not trying to argue, just saying that it’s weird that of all the fishermen and hunters, etc. that live in SLC and travel around the state to get away from the city when they can that they would not have a meeting in SLC. I’m sure a major population of Utah lives in SLC. Decisions are made in SLC but there isn’t a meeting here? C’mon man.
The limit may be the same. But obviously, if every single person fishing can use two poles, more fish will be caught.
After people catch their limit in half the time, they aren’t going to stop fishing. They are going to keep fishing and letting fish go. Not every fish that is released survives. Especially trout.
With this new rule, more fish are going to be caught. More fish are going to be released. More fish are going to die. It doesn’t make any difference to me if the fish is dead in someones freezer or dead in the water.
P.S. I would like a RAC meeting to be held in SLC as well. Springville is way too far for for me to attend.
Yet you drive to southern Utah to fish multiple times? LOL
(in my best walter voice…OVER THE LINE!!!)[;)]
Yeah I go fishing in Southern Utah like once a year if that.
Springville is 101 miles round trip from SLC. That is around $45 in gas for me and at the going rate of 55 cents a mile in wear and tear, combined with the 2 hours of sitting in a car…it is just not worth attending.
I attended the Millcreek meeting and decided that from that point on I would attend the RAC’s when I had the chance. Typically I always worked on Tuesday and Thursday evenings but now days my schedule is more free and now I am bummed that there is not a RAC meeting in SLC.
(in my best walter voice…MARK IT ZERO!)[;)]
You’re entering a world of pain, Smokey.
I like the changes.

I agree with everything you said. Plus “e-mail” request do get slid under a rug no matter how much sense they make. Dog-Lover’s post has me thinking Hmmmmmmmm
I drive from Spanish Fork to Murray and back 5 times a week(500miles/week). It makes me laugh every time I hear someone say “It’s too far” to drive anywhere that is more then 10 miles away. That’s what cars are for,to be driven. If you really wanted to have your opinion heard and have changes made, including getting a meeting established in SLC, then you would make the time and sacrifices. I feel the “too far” comment is a copout. I would like to know how many people that complain about the meetings being too far away would actually attend the meetings if they were in SLC.
I would probably (schedule permitting) attend every meeting if they were held in Salt Lake.
I still didn’t get an answer on average attendance of the meetings. And as stated before, driving 100 miles round trip for an hour meeting (I’m going to go out on a limb and say an hour because I don’t think a lot of people attend these meetings.) is expensive and I could care less if someone has to drive 500 miles a week to his job- that’s his choice. It’s a job, not a meeting.
Keep the Beaver, Green River, Vernal, Brigham City, AND ADD SALT LAKE CITY. How hard can that be? And as for a SLC meeting, might surprise you how many would show up. Or would it?
Show up at the meeting in Springville. It is a meeting and I couldn’t care less if it isn’t as convenient as having it in your back yard. It might surprise you how many do show up in Springville. I’ve seen standing room only crowds when the issues are important and controversial.
Again. It isn’t necessarily important to get 200 people (especially from the same neighborhood) as it is to get 200 people from across the region. If it is held in Salt Lake you’ll get a whole lot of people that live close to the main office of the UDWR. You won’t get as much of a cross section of opinion. And sometimes that is what they are looking for.

Well, we can agree to disagree. You can not possible determine the outcome of a meeting in S.L. It could surprise you.[:)] SL will draw Ogden, Heber, Park City, Provo, in my eyes, not quite back yard.
Springville will draw Provo, Heber, Orem, Nephi, Sandy, Draper, Lehi, American Fork, Spanish Fork, Payson, Santaquin, Mapleton etc. Ogden can get to Brigham City.
I’m using your same assumption that people won’t drive very far to get to the meetings. If it’s important to someone, they’ll be there.
I have know idea why you are so apposed to this. Done.
