Salmon Falls Creek Res.

:sunglasses:Thanks. The “book” is about 50 years of float tubing…all species, all tackle…with very little about specific methods. No fly tying recipes at all.

Very few of my fly patterns are “traditional”. However, I use several variations of old favorites such as the coachman, renegade, captain and (of course) the silver hilton. After that I tie mostly “representational” stuff, with basic colors of silver, gold, white, yellow, brown, black, etc. I also love purple, in several patterns. So do the fish.

As you can see in the marabou ties, I use lots of bright stuff, especially for warm water species in murky or stained water and during low temps and low light conditions when you have to wake up the fish.

I will probably never put the “book” into print. I have explored all available potential publishers and all seem to feel that tubing a tooning are a limited market with limited potential returns. I agree. However, I do plan to make it available to all who want to read it…at no cost or little cost.

I have essentially finished the writing…after about 30 years of rewrites and updates. I have converted the Word docs to Publisher, and am formatting the chapters. I am also adding pictures. That makes the file sizes far to large to just post on BFT, for free, so I will probably end up putting them on a CD and peddling it for costs of the blank CD and shipping.

This is the intro & history chapter (attached). It is a small file at 787 KB. I have also finished a 60 page chapter on “Species”. It is over 7 MB. All other chapters will fall somewhere in between. But, with no monetary motivation for completing the formatting during prime fall fishing, it may be awhile before it is ready.

…now that you have jogged my memory I do recall you saying you were still converting etc and were gonna put it all on cd once it was done.. I will be one of the first hands raised when you make it available and will be more than glad to "pay the price’…

… I see teh variations .. or at least some of them that you use so I can at least follow what you are saying… and for some reason your silver hilton .. even the “original” one has caught my attention.. I just have a feeling that that fly could work well out here.. we will see once I get the time to try to tie a few of them up…

…thank you again for all the advice and pictures to back it up.. Ill try to let you know if and or when I get some of those tied.. lol.. keep fingers crossed for me .. [sly]
