So has anyone been up to Ririe the last couple of days? Lots of warm and not much freezing at nights down here. And wind must be having an effect on the ice too. Must be getting close to putting a boat in :). And with temps getting into 50’s in next couple of days, probably will speed the melt up even more.
Pretty quiet on here. Anyone know ice conditions on Ririe, is it open and ready for a boat?
Ice is off and boats are fishing. My friend said that three boats were fishing on Thursday. He went out yesterday.
Any one doing any good? Have you been out Falls? guess I’ll have to finish getting boat ready this week.
The report I got from a buddy who fished Friday is that ice is in the Narrows and you can not get to Meadow Creek. He fished from 20-50 ft with no luck. Tried the surface and nothing. Fish must be following the ice south.
When do they open Blacktail?
I heard they are launching at Blacktail since last Friday .
I went to the Juniper office yesterday and the lady said they had BLacktail open since last Thursday. Soon as the weather clears I’ll have to try it.
Went out yesterday thinking the weather was going to be good. HA, temps hovered in high 30’s, wind was 15-20 and couldn’t do a heck of a lot. Zero fish and a couple others I talked to ended up with a nice boat ride. There were still boats out when I left and most were down towards the narrows/power line. Doesn’t look like weather is going to give us much hope of getting out again anytime soon. Hope things pick up.
Lots of boats on the water yesterday. Put in at Juniper and a lot of boats were coming from Black Tail. Fishing was slow at best. Talked to at least 6 boats and most anyone had was 2 koks. Water has raised a ton in the past 2 weeks. Wont take long at this rate and it will be full. I counted over 20 boats on the water yesterday all fishing and it got crowded at times, but still was good to get out. With the warmer weather coming up, fishing should pick up too. Good luck to everyone.
Thanks for the report, what was the water temp up to?
I am not sure as I forgot my gauge for water temp :(. I am basing that on the fact that everyone I talked to, including the 2 fish I got were in the top 10 ft of water so it has to be cold down deeper. Might be wrong, but just an observations.
OK, I just thought your fish finder had a temp readout from the prior post where you said the temps were in the high 30’s. Suppose to be a good warmup this week, so the catching should get better or at least I hope so.[;)]
Sorry that was confusing, by temps in the 30’s I meant air temp. I have a fish finder that was given to me but just haven’t figured it out yet, lol. I just know where I have caught them in the past and use the same places over and over. As long as the wind stays down some, fishing should really pick up as you say with the temps reaching close to 70.
So we hit the water yesterday in hopes the bite had improved some. It had, but, still very slow at best. Folks were catching one here and there but all over. You would pick one up then nothing then 2 then nothing. Water was 50, stained, but it is 100% so that should help. Fish we did catch were all around 11". Here’s to hoping to a pick up with warmer weather now on it’s way.
Were you mostly targeting the Kokanee? Any word on how the bass are doing?
Does anyone have any updates on the water temps at Ririe?
I don’t have water temperature. But they catching Perch and Trout. Several posts on Facebook.
water temp 60 degrees. kokanee eager to bite wedding rings, top 10 foe.
Nice catch , thank you for sharing.
