Return to Echo with FisherLady..Mon. 3-30

This is a wider canoe with flat transom, for elec, or small gas motor..E motor pushes it nicely, and always quiet for trolling..that said, yeah, I don’t like to take chances with it, or any my other water craft..white caps just aren’t fun, any size boat..this day they were pushing us from behind, so didn’t affect anything side to side…just helped us get in quicker after her last fish…ALWAYS wearing life jackets on my canoe or kayak..I’ve had several canoes over lots of years, have had this one almost 20 years, and never tipped it.."SportsPal", by Meyer..I have tipped my kayak, however, and life jacket did save my life…so I, or occupants, will never scrimp on safety…if it’s windy to start, I just don’t go out in my canoe, or yak…but they sure are a fun way to troll…Guluki

[*]Yup, we went again..same place, same canoe trolling..I got showed up again by my new FisherLady wife..Weatherwise, Monday looked like the best of the week for a canoe outing, and after 2 buddies couldn’t do anything, she says ‘Why don’t you ask me?’…Dumb Me!..maybe I will ask her first from now on, cuz she wanted to go again, especially after her success last week on her first outing…Launching by 0830, we both soon had 2 fast hits and misses, so thought we were in for a ‘Good Fishing’ day, as the solunar charts predicted..across the pond, I finally did connect, a healthy 16.5"er…another hit and miss for each, then FisherLady reels in her first nice 'bow, near the dam..now closer to 1000, we circled around, doing the loop again, with no results..just turned off for us, trying different depths, different hoochies, squids, Rapalla…nada…by about 1115 I could feel the wind changing, and our direction was heading back, trolling on the way..1130 wind is stronger, but blowing with us..1145 we’re 15 mins out from the dock, where 5 or 6 other boats are now waiting their turn to get out vbecause of the stronger wind..I say we should pull gear and get in fast..she didn’t want to give up…my gear is pulled, she’s still in the water…Yup, white caps and all, she gets a hit, and lands our biggest, a nice 17.5"er…she’s thrilled..she knew she’d get 1 more..I’m relieved..and very happy for her also…2 for her, 1 for me..I think that’d be a good ratio from now on..happy O.G. signing off.. Guluk

That’s got to be scary to be in a canoe with white caps slapping at you. Especially trolling all the way back to the launch from the dam. Glad you at least got a few before the wind hit.

Glad you are getting her out and the white caps are scaring her off there and you two are having some success Joe. Sounds like it’s nearing the time to break out the big boat.
