Yep. Your opinion matters. If you want to attend a RAC, you’ve gotta go to a RAC meeting. If you want to attend a meeting in Salt Lake, go to the Wildlife Board meeting. They actually have more influence than the RAC committees.
I have been to a few meetings and they need them all over the state and one in SLC as well..
The easier they are to get to the more people will come..
someone please tell me: WHAT REGION would the SLC RAC meeting represent???
I think that is the heart of the matter. I would be absolutely opposed to having the southern region represented by Salt Lake county!
We already have the Wildlife Board meeting in SLC, which is essentially a RAC.
I have to drive 50 miles to attend my RAC meeting in the Southern Region. I’m not crying about it.
Good heavens you Wasatch Front folk are spoiled… heaven forbid you have to put forth some effort to participate in something you love!
“someone please tell me: WHAT REGION would the SLC RAC meeting represent???”
**All regions. Many of us who live in Salt Lake do not just fish in the local community ponds. We would like an opportunity to have some statewide discussions in one place rather than have to go to 4 or 5 other remote meetings just to be able to discuss our fave travel venues.
I would hazard a guess that there are more Salt Lakians fishing some of your local waters each year than local residents. Game of numbers.

No.
We don’t need another RAC in SLC to cover all of Utah. If that were the case, then put in a central location to provide equal opportunity for ALL Utah to attend. How 'bout Fillmore? That way, those residents of St. George would have an equal oppportunity for input just as those in Logan, and SLC.
You guys want equality, while at the same time favoritism.
I fish waters outside the southern region too. If I want to have some say, I have MULTIPLE opportunities and means of communication to get my input to RAC members.
- Attend the RAC at the specified location.
- Email. I can send RAC members emails at any time, from any place.
- Phone. Again, I can call them from anywhere.
This truly is a silly discussion.
Hey, while we’re at it: I want tiger musky stocked in Leigh Hill Pond. It isn’t fair that I have to drive 2 1/2 hours away from my home to fish for them. Maybe I’ll bring that up at the new SLC RAC?
This truly is a silly discussion.Ahhhhh, yep!!

Amen. Isn’t Levan the “navel” of Utah? Ought to be able to get a big crowd there.
Well I have drove all the way to Green river and out to Vernal this week and then found out I was MISS lead by one of the people in the SLC office who was (I was told in the know) just to go to the RAC meeting I was told I needed to be at…
Yes we need one in SLC ..You drive only 50 miles BOO HOO..
Get out your decoder ring.
Sounds like Bassrods was sent on a wild goose chase.
Sounds like Bassrods was sent on a wild goose chase.
hmmm…not sure of that. My decoder ring makes it sound like he actually made it to the RAC meeting, but found out that he could have submitted his comments via email. Not sure. Decoder ring is getting old. I need to go buy a new box of Kracker Jacks.
But, the irony of the post is that it was bassrods. How many wild goose chases does this guy go on? He gets mis-led more than any other guy I’ve ever met. It kind of makes you wonder where the communication break-down occurs? Is it on the end of the receiver??
i’m gonig to side with bassrods on this one: because I know he’s a good communicator. It had to be the person at the SLC office.
(and you guys are asking for more meetings at that same office!!!)
Had ta bee.
Being mute and just letting things be and not asking questions because ‘that’s the way it’s always been’ seems to be a popular way of thinking. Things change. I was asking for opinions and for the most part it is going exactly like I thought it would. Looking back I should have wrote it down so I could have compared notes ![]()
The Wildlife meetings are at 9:00 am on Thursdays. That doesn’t exactly fit into a working man’s schedule. I could go on and on but I’ve seen enough. Thank you everyone.
Posting your opinion about the location of the RAC meetings here could actually be useful.
A lot of DWR people read the reports from BFT.
Now take it one more step and email your requests for a change of location directly to the DWR.
By the way, I drive to Brigham City from Roy to attend the Northern RAC meetings.
I would love to see them in Ogden but I will make the drive to Brigham if needed.
