question and suggestions about some spinning reels

hi guys,

this is my first post here,

i’m a newbie to the whole fishing scene, i just got myself a new daia sealiine-x surf rod

and i’m looking to buy a matchin spinning reel to go with it.

what do you guys think of the shimano symetre series (4000 or 6000), the quantum Response Ti series (RE4XTI) and finally the okuma epix series (EF50)?

these are the three reels i’m looking at, anyone have any suggestions about other types?

and does anyone know what of those three is a better reel?

pros and cons?

thanks guys

Welcome aboard.!!!

any particular model number ?

so i can do some research on it?

You can see their Whole product line from this page, I’m not sure how they hold up in the surf but off a boat, they are great… `All I use.

They don’t sell off their site, just info. Big Fish has great prices & Milo can answer questions for ya too.

I’m sure others can talk about other brands.

Welcome and glad you have dropped in. What type of fish are you planning to target(?) One of my first Q’s, always, wether it’s choosing rods, reels or tackle.

That makes a difference, IMO, as to what type of reel to select and the features they have which may help you feel, and get onto, the fish better.

At the same time, I have to agree with Capt. Dan that the Penn Spinfisher’s are hard to go past given that they are well built, tough and have a good grad system. I have used them a lot when pro guiding and they stand up to the best of fish (in the medium sized range)..

Even so, let us know about my Q and we can go from their in terms of other reel options, including the Okuma’s.

I am sure other anglers will drop their comments in here as well.

Ok D11

We’ll wait for a bit before I reply because I would like to hear from other anglers first about their choice of reels for freshwater fish and some of their reasons.

So let’s hear from all your freshwater fish hounds. Help D11 out here ok.

Hey Do

Just wondering where you ended up with the spinning reel choice and if you have gone back to the sweetwater with it yet?
