Question about Pontoons and waders

I know of a person that wripped his Simms on a wire fence and Cabela’s gave him a brand new pair, If they will do that with Simms, then you know your covered with their brand. I have a freind that bought the Dry’s in the spring but I haven’t seen him lately to ask how they are holding up. But he loved them for the first few months.

I sent Cabela’s an email and they said they only cover the waders for 1 year.

Now I’m thinking about LL Bean they have a return policy like Costco. Any time for any reason, no way to beat that, in fact if I decide to upgrade they will take bake the $99 pair and use it for another pair.

The only other waders I may get at this point are the Dan Bailey Bare Bones Stocking foot Wader they have a lifetime warranty.

I know it sounds like I’m real cheap and I am a little but also I don’t like to throw money away. I know you get what you pay for but to often I pay a lot for items only to get burned and that is what I’m trying to avoid.

:sunglasses:You know, there is one other BIG issue that has not been mentioned so far. That is that you really should TRY BEFORE YOU BUY. That is especially important for waders that you might be using throughout the year under different conditions. You need to be able to try them on with all of the layers you might conceivable be wearing in the coldest weather. If you get them too “form fitting” for warm weather, you will be a stuffed sausage if you add some extra insulation.

That is especially true in the foot area. Some waders are cut very narrow in the ankles and you can’t get them on with extra socks. It seems like every manufacturer has a different idea about what constitutes the “perfect” wader.

Very good point. It goes without saying in my case, but others might not know that. I had to buy boots two sizes larger to fit over the generous neoprene bootie in my waders, so when buying boots, take your waders with you.
I am re evaluating my waders. Not to mention any names (and I am sure some of you know who made them). I have the top of the line, which I only wear in real bad weather or winter, otherwise I wear my hippers. I had to return my 2 yr old waders this year because they were ripping about 3/4" away from the seam (the weld) from the knee down to the neoprene bootie. They did send me a new pair, but I still feel this is a defect in their design. I understand that the new top of the lines for the year 2007 has address this issue and hopefully corrected it. So, I agree that you don’t always get what you pay for. You have to go with Companies record. And I think it is good to return things like this so the Company does know what is going on and can correct it.
P/S. no one else mentioned them, but I am looking at the William-Joseph. The upper stretches. I am a guide so the waders is part of my tools, so I have to get comfort and quality.

William Joseph has a great Warranty + a $50 guarantee

**UNCONDITIONAL LIFETIME WARRANTY ON PACKS
**We don’t care if you have a receipt or not, if you got it as a gift, or if you bought it at a garage sale. It doesn’t matter if you backed over it with your truck, as long as it’s repairable, we will fix it for free, forever, no matter who’s at fault - no questions asked.

but $339 is a little much for me

Hmm. That says “on packs.” Is that their warrantee on waders, too? If so then $339 would be a bargain for a fisherman who has 10-20 years of good fishing ahead.

Not if that is how you make your living. As I said, I am a guide, so I need reliable quality gear and that does cost.

Finally pulled the trigger and ended up with a pair of Simms from ebay http://cm.ebay.com/cm/ck/1065-29392-2357-0?uid=40723115&site=0&ver=EOIBSA080805&lk=URL&Item=200017880358

two reasons I went with the used pair 1) the seller has 100% positive feed back on over 1000 items 2) the size of Large Short is only made on a few models according to the Simms size chart and they are the G3, classic guide, RiverTek and the L2.

No matter which it was I think I got a good deal.

Thank you, everyone who provided advice

:sunglasses:Good waders at a good price. Nice going and good luck.
