That is really helpful. I called Albright today and they didn’t know of any places I could go to try one out, so the tip is MUCH appreciated!
Yeah, the snow has been a great rod for me. Mine is also a 4weight, its my usual go-to rod on the weber.
Haven’t fish there rods much even though I ended up getting a free Yellowstone rod I bought a few of there reels, Bugati & GPX 5 wt, & GP 9/10 wt. Haven t had the opportunity to try the GP but the Bugati & GPX in were fished today.
Both reels look great feel real sturdy the large arbor made line retrieval pretty fast but both reels choked when it came to drag I usually palm my reel so wasn’t a big deal but both reels have tight spots in the drag (more so on the Bugati then the GPX) Dont know if its the bearing they use but the drag is nice and smooth for a few rotations then gets tight and back the Bugati did this with the drag was all the way open…
Heres a picture of the bearing and the rubber washer the rubber washer is the only thing that holds the bearing on the center cylinder but ive tried pulling the reel off the cylinder and its pretty sturdy.
Thanks everyone for the great advice and tips. I have gone with the Cabelas L-tech! This rod is incredible. I cast it side by side with the Sage Launch. It was a difficult decision, and both have their strengths. The Sage loaded line a little better - but the L-tech is so light, delicate, and is perfect for finesse fishing. I think I am going to save up for a Launch in a 5 or 6 weight size. It would be PERFECT for me in that size. I got to feel an Albright GP (a step lower than the A-5 I was thinking of getting), and wasn’t too terribly impressed by it. Even if the A-5 was awesome, I am not sure it could beat the L-tech. AWESOME ROD! Can’t wait to break it in tomorrow. I am like a little kid at Christmas time! [;)]
