Boy, you just haaaaad to mention lighted bobber in the dark…now I can’t sleep thinking of those quiet nights on the marsh and hearing nothing but the night sounds, critters, and the occasional splash of big fish. Now THAT’S what makes fishing for catfish sooooo addicting! I really can’t wait to start back at it.

The catfish challenge was a godsend for me personally. It caused me to get off my sorry backside and go fishing! Completion makes a person strive to do better and learn more about a great pastime. I hope the challenge continues for a long time. I enjoy meeting new BFT members and swapping experiences. I also like to see the Northern boys work a little harder
Thanks Skunked and Cyotespinner for all they do to make this all possible.
Yup those night sounds get spooky at times, but that zing of the string as your bobber zips out of sight is pretty cool. Skeeters buzzing your ears and falling stars. It’s about time. Sure hope you get time to do it this summer. Team north needs their captain. Later J
It really has been fun for me as well because it seems to be a fun natured contest and not dead serious so it keeps the attitude light and fun or at least that is our intentions. So I hope you will continue with us and hopefully this year more can join us at the awards banquet whether you’re a winner or not. It was a lot of fun to see everyone that took part last fall. Great group to be part of, it’s sure taught me a lot and who knows maybe this will be the year I break 30" in the contest. Might take all three fish to do it, but I’m hoping for one at least over 30". Anyway I’ll get the rules out soon. Later J
I will be hitting it hard this year in search of giants!!!
Good deal we need ya back this year… Missed your numbers last year… J
Uh-oh, with sethook and gmwahl both ramping it up this year you northern guys might have a chance this year. If I remember right you two put up some big cats year before last. Still… the south has momentum and will prevail again this year.
Bring it on!

boatload, when are you going to come up here fishing with us? We need to get Mike and Jeff and the rest of the gang and have a catfish party. I’m kinda jealous though because I haven’t fished UL for a while now and I know there are some big mommas there in my old stomping grounds.
Anyone know if TD is joining again this year? John is missing in action, I think he gave up fishing for a woman. Say it ain’t so!
Seriously though, I’ve never topped the 30" mark for those Channels…I’m really hoping to get one this year. I did decent a couple years ago in the contest, but not so much last year. Part of it cause Mike never let me know when he dropped in over the hill.
Who’s in charge of the catfish contest this year?
Hey, I’ll fish with you guys any time. I’m always looking for tips from my betters. Long drive up there but I could swing it. I will be using carp meat but I will bring you guys a supply of white bass to use after I leave… great bait and the cats love 'em.
If I am called to testify I will deny I had any part in the crime.
I think Jeff and John are in cahoots this year in putting the contest together. I’m betting we’ll get a sign-up and start date soon. Seems like last year we were up and going March 1st but a little colder with later ice off this year. Soon… those 30+ inchers are out there just waiting to be caught. Good luck to ya.

Hey Derek, Lynn was correct John and I will spearhead the contest and it’s slow starting because I haven’t gotten my act together yet. Will shoot for Mar 15 start. Later J
Hey John, been awhile since I’ve seen anything from you here on the site. Hope all is going well, or at least better.

Good luck to all the Kitty chasers, North and South this year. I don’t think I will be joining the hunt this time. Trying to get my house ready to sell, and it may cut into time on the water. But I will still be on the water somewhere now and again. If ya see the Tin Can floatin by, throw me a wave.
Fish on, ya’ll…[;)]
Hey Forest they let the kids in the kitchen and I made a few changes to the rules, so no entry fee this year, so enter anyway and when you catch something who knows it might be the biggest cat of the year… Just as well help out team north… Later J
Confused on the boundaries this year. You say all of Salt lake is in the north then you say all of the Jordan is in the south. So
Which is it?
All of Jordon River is south. I’ll have to re-read the rules. I tried to modify Yotes rules and I may have confused things. But let’s call it by where you fish so if you live close to line but fish on opposite sides because waters are closer. Then pick team by where you fish. Thanks J
Get registered and go get them. So far team south is killing us at the registration lines. It’s simple and free this year. Later J
