Several bodies of water won’t allow the float tubes because they associate tubes with skin contact in the water. Others allow tubes but with waders only.
One of my favorite lakes here in SoCal, Castaic, has a main lake, a forebay and an afterbay or Lagoon as it is best known for.
The Lagoon is the only part that they allow tubers but we must wear waders at all times since they say that the whole lake is a watershed.
They do allow swimming in the Lagoon.[crazy]
The main or upper lake, is where all the boats and PWCs are allowed. Oil spills and leaks are common in that area of the lake but nothing is implied to them about the watershed issue even though the water from the upper lake feeds the Lagoon.[pirate]
The forebay to the lake is the pure water (no boats, no tubes, no swimming, no fishing and no access) part of the water shed. The other 2 bodies of water drain into a river system that goes 61 miles away to the ocean.
Many of the other water shed lakes that don’t allow tubers, do allow oil spilling boats in there. Go figure.[pirate]

Two more lakes come to mind. Can’t be legally fished although four wheel drive trucks drive thru them and sink all the time spilling gas and beer. Really guys, Please don’t spill the BEER. It’s sacrilegious. At least my religious. These are two lakes up the San Gabriel River. They are full of big Smallmouth Bass. How do I know??? Float Tubing (()).

It helps that I took the picture. Nobody called me on it but my dad says its Abalone Point in the background but the fog makes it look like Dana. He qualifies as an expert in my book having raised me in this section of the California Bight. Before Fishfinders he would put us on so many hardspots and obscure rockpiles. Line up the peak of this hill and those two houses. Bam! Follow this scumline until it intersects the pier…Newport Salmon in the winter and Sablefish in the summer. CB’s on every boat s well as VHF. Lots of “Private Talk”. Threshies here,'cuda there. Orange CD18’s for the Makos. Mooching for those Salmon all winter long and not telling anyone. Finding the 70 pound Albacore and banging them all day on Marlin Jigs, then calling in Donny Brockmans old boat, the “Sportfisher”, for a wild end of the day bite, shreading rental rods right and left . Nailed two free passes for life on that one. Days on the Newport Bay when 50 Bass a day was the norm. Big as they get Spotties and bonus Grande Sandbass, lots of keeper Halibut. What a grand place to grow up. Even though I called this place Commie-fornia last week. I’m sorry. Merry Christmas everybody…[:)]

Those little garter snakes are purty…and not dangerous. When I lived in Arizona, this is the kind of slithergoodie we had to watch out for. They actually swim out into some of the lakes down there.
…hmmmm I guess that means I aint going to any lakes in Az… [crazy].. I have enough to do to keep my line untangled much less handling a fish if I catch one to have to worry about one of these things to come a vis’tin…
