Great idea! I got a Scadden Pontoon last spring and am just starting to get my feet wet on it. (pun intended ) I am jazzed to get out more this spring/summer. I sold my Crestliner a couple years back and have had a hard time be shore bound. PLEASE let me know when and where this event will take place. Iād really like to be involved. I have access to a pretty good variety of āattachment devicesā such as velcro straps, stainless steel fasteners, etcā¦
One question for you 'tooners⦠Do we need to register our boats if we attach a motor? My freind was ticketed at East Canyon in a canoe with an electric motor for not having it registered. Let me knowā¦
Welcome to the boardā¦and a floatation fanatic too. Yahoo.
Hey, if you wanna check out some past posts on ātricking outā your ride, come on over to the float tubing board at FLOAT TUBING I just finished going back through all of our posts over the last two years we have been operational, and I have made an archive of 'BEST OF THE BEST". You can look up any major headingā¦like Waders, Fins, Motors, etcā¦and just click on the links to bring up the past posts. Lotsa pics in there too.
Hey, CBR, depending on how deep the snow is this weekend, I may join you at LB. Letās begin the anti W and the anti S dances, and keep in touch. I have a deep and driving need to move upon the waters, while waving my āmagic wandsā in search of gullible fishies.
I dearly fear that I am not going to be worth much as a grandpa on weekends from now on. Once I renew my kinky relationships with those walleyes, I am not worth a hoot to anybody who wants anything coherent out of me.
You go to the dmv, wherever that is for you. I registered mine at the farmington courthouse. I took my sales receipt, motorās serial number, and she assigned me a hull ID, which Iām supposed to somehow permanently attach to my toon. I havenāt done that part yet.
Depending on who you talk to at the dmv, youāll need a title for it, which I had to do. It cost about $20 for the whole thing. Every time I take my toon out with the motor on it, I have to hang my registration numbers on it, just like a boat. Itās a pita, but you have to jump through the hoops.
[:(]Yeah its a bummer anything to get more money out of me, but to let you guys know they are trying right now to pass legislation that you also have to have liability insurance on your personal water craft as well, I cant recall the HB number but soon as I find it I will let you know, it included anything with a motor. Electric or not. may have to get used to paddeling.
Thatās ridiculous. Itās an inflatable boat. Anything I hit, I would just bounce off of.
Maybe I could get comprehensive insurance, fill the toon up with propane, and send it out with a fuse lit on it. That would be pretty cool. I could sell tickets to that.
Thereās employment openings within the Big Top World- Ringling Brothers-Barnum Bailey Circus⦠We can use a clown on nitrous floating around with balloons catching a imaginary fishā¦
Pretty much a dog leash attached to a collar, but a invisible dogā¦[pirate][sly][:P]
Yes it is rediculous, I agree, I think the law was being looked at because of the Personal watercraft that have caused so many accidents, like jet skis and wave runners, but if the changes come into play then it will effect all of us for a few inconsiderate Dolts .
I think they could make it only pertain to watercraft with INTEGRAL or gas powered engines. Whatās someone with an electric, temporarily mounted to a canoe or pontoon, going to do that would require liability insurance?
Tube Dude, You can get still get rich⦠you just gotta devise a component area to hold an bottle of Nitrous Oxide to power your tube quickly to any fishing hole, and still say, āWhat motor?! I donāt need no stinkin reg number for my float tube!ā
Nitrous Oxided powered float tubes has one particular advantage for those distressed fishermen trapped in their wadersā¦[;)] Hee hee⦠sorry I hadda take a potshot at this particular one since the other post got locked down.[angelic]
Hey guys they ammended the Insurance law for personal water craft to this.
HB 261
677 (4) (a) āMotorboatā has the same meaning as defined in Section 73-18-2 .
678 (b) āMotorboatā includes personal watercraft
*(c) āMotorboatā does not include a boat with a motor with a manufacturer listed *horsepower of 50 horsepower or less.

*So it looks like us pontooners are ok for now, but its still in legislation and they could change it, if i see somthing change I will post it. *
Still working on the date. Anyone up for a trial float this weekend @ Lincoln Beach? Could give you an opportunity for some ideas of what we can do to your floats at the āPimp My Floatā get together. Some of us that are going sure do have some unique and not so unique ideas on how to pimp your float.
This get together will need to be post-poned a couple more weeks. It will happen, before the next major flotilla, just need to fidn a time when my and others schedules arenāt so busy.
