It is funny how different folks fishing different areas around the lake will find fish in different depths and holding on different “structure”…on the same days.
That’s fishing. But, as my favorite fishing expression goes “Ya cain’t ketch 'em where they ain’t.” The toughest part of fishing almost anywhere is first finding the fish and then finding out what it takes to get them to “yawn”.
Having worked over the Bunny Gulch area pretty thoroughly over the past few years…during all water levels and weather conditions…I usually have a pretty fair idea of where to look first. But, I will readily admit that I have been fooled a lot and have made a lot of bad starts before finding fish and getting them to bite.
All’s well that ends…or something like that. As long as you keep looking…in the right way and in the right places…you can usually find enough fish to make a good fish fry.
Were you guys bottom bouncing or jigging?
Jiggin’. Mostly with pink or red jigheads and a crawler. I also caught some eyes using Gulp minnows. The wind made feeling strikes tough so we were using about a 3/8 oz. head. Ryno
