Was a good time in spite of the wind. We sacrificed a fiberglass bow in the Quick Fish to the wind gods when we were putting it up. We gave up when it finally gave way and broke all the way through at noon. It was a challenge timing the wind gusts to yank the thing down.
We ended up with lots of perch fillets and some new acquaintances. It was great to meet everyone and put a face to the names. Thanks Glen for putting the event on.
Yes, it was good to meet a few of you and Glen put on a great event. The action was fast and furious. The first time ice fisherman I had with me caught at least as many as I did ( and was very eager to try the amazing tasting perch I told him about). I went along with his plan to keep a limit of perch for each of us… Needless to say 100 fish filleted boneless is no joke. Should be some good eating though, just finished up. Good to meet you guys (Just Jim, Moon cricket, ocean) and I surely have a new guy hooked on the hard deck. Hope you guys had as much fun as we did.
How thick was the ice and was there any trouble getting a quad on there? Thanks.
Ice was thick hard to push through with a hand auger i am guessing over 15 inches seemed more like a couple of feet though lol . There were atvs and snowmobiles everywhere hell if it could hold Glen an atv would be ok .[:p] Just kidding Glen good to see ya again.
As ocean said, the ice was probably 14-16" and the only issue with an ATV was that there were some areas with some pretty good slush pockets.

Glen’s bike had new, big diameter tires and did ok through the slushy spots. My 400 with half wore out tires got stuck even after he blazed a trail. So, judge your bike by that and take your chances. I won’t bother taking my bike out on FL again this year. I’ve been stuck in slush by myself before and it ain’t no fun!
