Penn 340 and 345 GTi

In my reel repair business I see lots of Penn 340 and 345 GTi’s with corrosion problems. Have others had the same experience? They seem to be good reels otherwise.

But the fact is, 340s and 345s seem to have more problems than other Penns – which, I agree, are excellent reels. My theory is that people don’t tighten the two long screws on the case which lets water creep in. This is almost a design flaw because the screws are hard to reach.
