I heard that Panguitch is close to having safe ice. I’m wanting to go next week sometime. I’ve heard that they’ve had negative temps for the last week or so. I figure it doesn’t take much time for it to freeze over with those kinds of temps. Thanks for any help.

I heard that rumor but still haven’t heard if it’s safe. I do know the lakes that freeze early had safe ice for one week now. It’s been a very slow start to the ice fishing down south.

The best report I heard is from Navajo, Yankee is extremely slow, Pine is good.

I was down to Paunguitch this morning and it was cold,
-8 d at 10:00 am. I was going to run up to the lake and see how it was but didn’t end up having time, I went over to Ottercreek instead, plenty of ice there, about 4" so I assume Paung is capped, I will be back there on Monday/Tuesday so I will let you know.

For what it is worth, a guy working at the Sportsman’s in St George, told me he talked to someone who fished Panguitch last Friday. He was told ice was 6" and they caught a few.

Fished Panguitch last Saturday safe 6 inches of ice caught 8 fish a couple cuts close to 22 inches. The fish were able to be seen on the sonar but getting them to bite was a little tricky. Used small jig tiped with a meal worm.

I plan on heading to Minnersville tomorrow to give it a shot.
