Hell, just forget fly fishing. Pay Fly Goddess to catch some fish for you. It’s easier and cheaper[sly][sly][sly][sly]
Season opens up on Saturday. I don’t think I’ll hit any trout waters, but I’m going to try to get me a White Bass or two out of my little creek…Don’t know what I’ll do if I accidently hook a carp or pike. I think I got everything all tied together right, and I can cast in a general forward direction at least 25% of the time without hitting myself in the head or making a big tangled mess…Not bad for a week of following written instructions, sketched diagrams, and the odd animated gif.
Hopefuly I’ll get to land something on a fly. Or at least watch a $50 piece of plastic string go screaming off my reel and into the murkey depths. I’ll take my spin-cast just incase…
What is cheaper with her?? By the hour? or by the fish???
Maybe we can run an add for her in Cali.![]()
If you can find some still water…golf ponds etc. Thats where you want to learn. Casting heavy streamers in current can be fustrating at first. In current there is another learning process…Mending the line! Anyways just take it slow, Have fun, AND don’t give up and say screw this! If you need anymore help fell free to PM me. I guided and taught casting lessons @ Jack Dennis Sports. His videos are very helpful. As you learn to cast a flyrod you will develop your own technique.
Sounds cool Bro. I also teach Spey casting as well as saltwater flyfishing.
My buddies think that I’m crazy to use my 10 or 11wt when we go Halibut fishing. Maybe I’m just a wimp at it but I prefer to have a little backbone when I go up against a 40 or 50lb fish.![]()
Isnt that what Im doing in two weeks.. [sly][sly][sly][sly][sly][sly][sly]
That’s right Macfly55.
Did you hit the weight lifting yet??? I’ll let you try my 10wt with a Saltwater Mega Zonker on it. It should be fun just seeing the look on your face with the size of the fly!!![]()

Don’t worry about the size of the rig. We won’t be targeting any 50lb salmon. I just wanted you to get a feel for the throw on a heavier fly.
Many of the heavier saltwater flies are also adequate for some of the Bass fishing that I do. If I see a lake only produces little 10lb dinks or less, then I button back down to a 4 or 5wt rig.![]()
10 lb dinks?? I will take those anyday!

LOL.. flyguy you just took the words right out of my head… a 10lb bass just cannot be a dink…[sly]

I do understand that in some lakes, a 10lb bass would be a new lake record. In other lakes, it would be a new state record.
Some of the lakes I go to, you hardly even want to mention anything under 10lbs that you caught. Most of the locals will just laugh at you.
At least when I go to the reporting area and shout that I got a few 10 and 12lb dinks, they know that I know in my heart, that wasn’t really a big Bass after all compared to what has been caught there.![]()
I’ve never caught a 10 lb bass before… I had the biggest White Bass at 17 1/4" out of my creek for a while (Richard Dubowits), but I see some Dylan Molinski guy tied me last year. I’ll have to remidy that little situation…
Id be very happy to hook into and land a 10 lb plus bass even if the locals consider it a dink. It would be the biggest fish, much less specific species that Id caught to date… sooooooooooo where did you say this lake was??? [sly]

That’s at Castaic. Up by Magic Mountain.![]()
Hey there TN2 so where are you?
I was up in the bigger swimming pool this weekend going for Stipers. They are a little deep for the lint to fall on them.
Normally I am in the little swimming pool towards the bottom of your picture.![]()
