how was the water lvl? I pulled out a corkie the other day i hadnt seen anyone use them up there.
The water was a little high, and colored. That’s why I tried the corkie, never done it before, and it worked![:/] The water must have been pretty cold though, the fish didn’t bite very hard they just kind of picked it up. They didn’t fight much either. Where do you usually fish for the walleye up there?
i havnt had much luck up the narrows i have only caught a few small onces but all of them have been right behind the damn. Thats about the only place i try.
Looks like you had fun. I need to some of those, I’ve been wanting to try them as well.
Went up to look for you today, there is ice covered but wont be to much longer with warm temps if you drive past the docks and make it up the hill and just turn that corner its all open waters… but there is no way to get in there with a boat yet i needed 4x4 just to venture in a little ways just to back out… there is a little piece of open water right on the dam next to the cement platform as well… Just a few more warmer temp days and it should be open!!!
Went out to the narrows today, water was high and GREEN very dark green in color did not get a thing had one nice fish on don’t know what it was got it on a Chartreuse grub fought for a minute and i noticed my reel was not working and wallah it was off as fast as it was on! lol oh well thats why they call it fishing and not catching… it started snowing about 2 hours i got there wet wet snow so i packed it in…
maybe the storm tonight will get the wind going and break it up a bit also.
i went up to fish the bear to try to catch a walleye today. I tried down river and it was good colour but no fish. So i drove up the narrows about 6:30 and went right up behind the damn. The water was very high, i was hoping to hop the rocks on the slow water and get over by the concrete blocks but it was way to high, but the trout were up in that slow water. I think we must of caught about 12 bows out of it and 1 cutt. Nothin of any size, about twilight they turned off and we switched to the eyes. My buddy caught one about 20 inches and around 2-3 lb I took a couple pics but it was to dark for them to turn out any good. I am thinking i may try up that way again tomorrow. Still waiting to land my first eye of the year. Had a monster on a week ago but couldnt even get him to move ended up straightening my hook. But thats half the fun.
good report! my bro is moving back into town this weekend don’t know how much fishing ill get done this weekend[pirate] plus with the storm but i know now with the new fishing buddy ill be out A LOT more!!![fishin] good report and hope i have a good one to fallow up with soon…
