Paint ball pistol idea is a good one. You may get in trouble for that one though. I got a better idea!!! Why not the real thing hanging from your shoulder holster. They will keep thier distance then guaranteed!!!
If you go armed, just be sure you have the proper tags and permits.
I once asked a DWR officer at Willard what the bag and possession limits were for water skiers. He was cool and quickly replied, “All you can fillet”.

You said it right there. I’m a Wakeboarder and waterskier, but I respect fisherman and the law. I think it’s great the way you handled the situation.
Don’t forget this problem goes the other way also. I don’t know how many times as a wakeboarder that I’ve worked a certain area just to have some trollers or guys that think they can come in and fish the bay that I’m riding. The worst is down at Lake Powell, do you really have to fish the same cove I’m riding in?
There are more and more people on the water, give each other the space we all have the right to use.
icthys,…You make agood point about fishermen comming into your area whne you were there first,and thats there problem.Everyone needs to respect each other on the water,thats all i am saying,but i have had and seen more problems and rude people who are sking or wakeboarding that could care less about anyone else on the water and there safety.Its fun to watch you guys wipe out when the fishing get slow so there is a plus side sometimes..LOL..
That’s retarded!! Why would they even WANT to fish where you’re wakeboarding??? I’m sure that boat noise and wakeboarder flying around behind the boat is sure to attract schools of stripers. Some people I think go on vacation and leave their brains back home.[crazy]
I don’t get it either. When I’m fishing I don’t want to be around the wakeboarders. I’m not a troller but I would assume they don’t want to break the straight line they are working. Then those striper hunters, I know the stripes like to work shad back in the coves but come on, there is more than one cove at Powell. Just last year we were the only wake/skiers in Hansen Creek, cruising up and down the canyon (canyon was not very long with the low water, nor was it very wide). There must have been 4-5 boats each day that would come in and try to fish the same time we were riding. Each time we’d pass them we’d get a nasty look like they owned the lake. Talk about dangerous, fishing boats cruising by, less than 150’, with a skier in the water and only a head visible bobbing out of the water.
Way to go. Maybe next time they will think twice before doing that. It says in the proc. it is also 150 feet from shore.I shore fish all the time and have to deal with those idiots all the time.
As a lover of both sports (wakeboarding and fishing) I would just like to say don’t be haters! In all activities there are those those who are respectfull and nice to be around and then unfortunately there are those who are disrespectful and have no respect for rules and other peoples space. For example I have read many posts that express anger and frustration over those fishermen who choose to break the law and keep too many fish or who are keeping fish that according to the regs should be released immediately. Everyone says I hope they get caught or say Hurrray when they get caught and ticketed. I too say hurray and am happy they get caught. But nowhere do I hear people say that all fisherman suck and are horrible people because a few people are ruining it for the rest of the fisherman. So please just realize that not all wakeboarder/skiers are horrible people and some of us are law abiding and respectful. I often times will go out and fish all morning and then wakeboard for a while while going back to the dock. But I am also acutely aware of other boaters, tubers, and bank fisherman around me whether I am bait fishing or trolling with a lure or trolling with a little heavier line with a wakeboarder attached. Just realize that there are good and bad people that participate in all activites and hobbies. There are respectfull and disrespectfull fishermen and respectful and disrespectful boarder/skiers. I respect what you did buy hooking the wakeboarder that got too close. I often time take my 8 and 5 year old kids fishing and skiing and I have given many other boaters a verbal beating when they come to close to my boat when I have small kids in the water kneeboarding or skiing. I have very little tolerance for disrectful idiots as well.

I think all boaters should have to take a boating safety course before registering their boats.
But then again the state parks rangers and coast guard don’t enforce the boating laws on the waters anyway. You rarely even ever see them on the water.[:(]
