NFO / Scadden Outlaw Renegade

Joni, I just got off the phone with Dave Scadden. Here’s what we’re gonna do. I am going to skip the CF oars for now since I am a stillwater guy, and he promised me the $199 price anytime in the future if I want to buy a pair.

I also upgraded to the 10’6" Rampage boat, which is basically the X5 without the frame and with the different seat and inflated floor. He said I can put the frame in it at any time and it will become basically an Outlaw X5.

I don’t care that much about the extra length of the Rampage (10.5’ instead of 9’), but I think the extra 4 inches of width will make it feel roomier and provide more stability, and I also like that it has two additional air chambers… gives an extra margin of safety.

So, Dave promised me the boat will go out from there to SF today via UPS, and he will send me a tracking number.

Got my fingers crossed. Thanks for all your help.

I used that cloth seat on my pontoon for many years. They have metal struts down both side in the back, very comfortable. They fold flat so you can kneel on your boat if you site fish.
Now if you want to add a motor, how do you do it with the inflatable floor?

Packability for this boat is going to be awesome.

Per Dave, install the frame backward and run it Zodiac-style!

It comes with a rolling duffle carrying bag. 38# total.

I’m really looking forward to this! Dave says it is his personal boat of choice when he goes fishing. If you look at his videos, he’s taken it around the world.

DUH…I can do that too…seriously, I have no idea why I didn’t think of that…LOL.
Well, we ever meet up, your welcome to try my frame see how it feels before you buy.

Stop me before I spend again!

I ordered the carbon fibre oars this morning.

Anyone know why they call it a rack & pinion oar system? There is no rack, and there is no pinion, and the way they work doesn’t even resemble a rack & pinion setup (linear gear coupled with a round gear). I guess it is just more Scadden Buzzwordizing?
