Little cat big cat 14 cats 15 cats

I think it’s possible we have blue cats in the lake. Back when they planted the channels i heard they weren’t trying to plant black bullheads but it sure looks like there are a fair share of them in the lake. I’m sure there were a few blues put in the lake also. Just my opinion.

ANYWHO! Way nice cats man! Looks like you had a pretty good time out there!!!

:sunglasses:Welcome aboard Travis. Just be careful how strong you are in your opinions if they are not backed up by science.

Bullheads were purposely planted in Utah Lake in the late 1800’s as a food source. Channel cats were not planted until about 1919. And, bullheads have nothing to do with blue cats.

Attached is a history of the major fishy events of Utah Lake.

Nope, not possible. I haven’t been around as much as some old salty bait draggers but the dwr just doesn’t carelessly throw any ol’ fish that may be mixed in into a lake. I have ‘heard’ many things about Utah Lake, the bullheads one is new to me. Let’s start a rumor about that [:p].
Seriously, there are no blues in Utah Lake and I would like to encourage any angler to prove without a doubt to me that they are in there. Not a story about Grandpa’s fish that he caught back in the day or I released it because I didn’t know, I’ll give you a twenty dollar bill if you can prove me wrong. It’s time for this to come to an end. Lol, I have to laugh at myself because I’m so tired of hearing about this.

**The difference between Ictalurus punctatus and Ictalurus furcatus is often not an issue of morphology, it’s a matter of fashion. **

We also have to keep in mind people that illegally introduce species to lakes/streams/etc…

But Aside from that. It’s all about the fish right?
They could be plaid for all I care, those fish were nice

I almost caught a duck at UL once

Well nothing over 7 lbs a lot of cats though we didnt catch anything I thought was pic worthy. We did have 4 different fish take the bait and burrow into the reeds that we lost fun trip after the wind was done blowing it was glass I took some nice scenery pic I will post

:sunglasses:Glad you got into some fish.

“NOTHING OVER 7 POUNDS”. Man, sometimes we don’t realize how good we have it at Utah Lake. There are not many places around the country where “cookie cutters” are over 4 pounds.

This time of year, when the cats are tight to the reeds, it is not unusual to have some big ol’ biggun decide to take you back into the forest. Not much you can do when they put the line over their shoulders and heave ho.

Keep your eye out for the GREAT BLUE WHALE. “Moby Cat”???

Hell I’ve caught those fish eating birds there using rapalas. The damn things think they are minnows I guess. Pretty smart if they can see and catch it within a few seconds before reeling hahaha…

Sure made my butt pucker till the damn thing dropped the lure!
