Well Saturday was a bust for me. I had motor problems and never got to fish.[frown]

Sorry to hear about your motor problems. I did not fish Saturday, but after our kids left and all the motherās day festivities ended, I went out on the lake for a couple of hours. It was rolling big white caps, but I got in the willows and out of the wind. I flipped the holes back where I had caught them Friday, but did nothing. I then eased over to a shallow area that was out of the wind and found a bunch of very active fish. Between 5:45 and 6:30 I caught 13 fish from 12-18" and had 6 other good strikes where the fish didnāt get hooked. It was a very fun 45 minutes.
I believe the F&G Deptās Trophy Bass plan with their slot limit and catch & release only in the spring is really working. I originally thought the slot was too small, but the average fish I am catching this year is certainly larger than they were several years ago. All those 14" fish seem to be 17-18" this year.
SmartWeed that is good to hear that the average fish size seems to be getting bigger. Iām looking forward to giving some of them a tumble soon!
Planning on heading over there Thursday for sure and maybe Wednesday. It does seems like the fish have been getting bigger the last few years since they replanted it after the draw down for fixing the upper dam and the drought years.

as i sit in my office on break i canāt help but invision bassin bob throwing a jig nā pig or rubber frog up next to some wood structure or smartweed pitchinā this hawiaan plug or senko on the smart weed flats. i can see those big olā girls a rollinā and getting those beds readyā¦ itās going to be warm today bet they are hitting good ! i need weekdays offā¦[frown] everyweekend cruddy weather ! maybe next week i will get sickā¦
Well, since you had to sit in your office, I decided that I ought to go fishing to help out. I had some things to do in the morning, and again in the evening, so I fished from 1-5. Not the best time (it should be really good right now = 8:30), but it wasnāt bad. I got 14, with a couple of 17 inchers the best. I did test out a bunch of stuff, and caught fish with almost everything I tried. The wildest was a Berkley T-Tail Minnow that I bought on closeout. It was what they call Pink Glow. This is a grub/club tail 3 1/2" minnow in an ungodly pink color with a silver flake back. I caught several on this including one of the 17" fish. This bait is really pink - not bubblegum. No one ever said largemouth had a high IQ.

It was just a bit over 60 when I launched. I am not sure what it read at 6 PM.

This morning at 8 AM the water temp was 53 degrees. I thought it might be warmer due to an overnight low of 50 here on Lake Shore Drive. When I quit at 11, the temp was 58. I would guess itās still going to be a while before the cats are active. I did catch 6 bass with a pair of 17" fish.
I got there around 9:30, first trip out this year with the boat. Wife backed me in and the boat started and then died. I had no electrical power on any thing. Trim wouldnāt work, so she pulled me out and I cleaned the battery cables and then she dumped me in again. Boat started and ran fine the rest of the day.
At the Caldwell end water temp was 59 and went up to 61 by 2:00. My wife caught her first fish at 10, a 14 and 1/2 incher. She caught it in the first 10 minutes, so I thought this is going to be a good day. She caught a 17 and 1/2 incher at 11:30. I still hadnāt had a bite. Finally moved down to Jurassic Park and I caught a 17 and 1/4 incher at 2:00. I was happy and decided I better leave before I get my butt kicked any worse. lol

I put in at the Nampa Ramp at around 8AM and fished till around noon. The temps I read were around 57 to 59. Finished the day with 3 fish is all - one decent one.
