Very nice indeed. Glad to see that I’m not the only one who does a “little surgery” before returning those “sea kittens” back to the lake bed. My personal favorite comes after the 4th of July and involves a little “demolition” [sly]instead of “surgery”.
I have seen that kind of work my self. It happens every year in my biology class when the sophmores dissect (mutalate) their specimens during the fish lab. Some kids just don’t follow instructions too well. At least they are curious enough to look. gshorthair
Classic. Dr. TD delivers, as usual.
I even used the ‘noon monsoon’ pic as my wallpaper here at work. Thanks for the pics, Pat!

Me, too. That is a very beautiful picture.
So…doesn’t that count as a skunk? It’s a narrow miss to have carp save you from getting skunk smell on your tube. ![]()
[:p][:p]
Nope. I caught several of those toothless golden walleyes in the kisser, after they sucked in the jig. That counts.
Now, if I had gone fishing ONLY for walleyes…or catfish…yes, I would have been skunked. But, I ain’t proud. No room for false pride amongst fishermen.
And, as I have stated before, I enjoy playing with carp. I would rather catch one of them than many of the more glamorous species, when it comes to a hard fight.
Can’t argue with you there. They don’t exactly fight like a Channel cat, but much better than a Cutthroat! ![]()
Looks like you enjoyed yourself TD. I just wish the DWR would plant a couple thousand Muskie in there to enjoy the carp as they will whack a 3# fish and make it a beautiful dinner…people have caught muskie with 8#+ fish in their mouth. Wouldn’t eliminate the carp but woudl definitely add to the enjoyment of fishing the lake…
Muskies, northerns, flathead cats, snakeheads and piranhas. Maybe some alligator gars for good measure. Yeah, that is a mix that could make a dent in the carp biomass…along with everything else in the lake…especially June suckers.
Can you hear the screaming from DWR and the feds who are in charge of the Junie program?
I think your on to something ther TD!
I don’t get it[crazy] You mean Carp ain’t a good thing?
Man I would have been in my element, and smiling from ear to ear.![]()

Didn’t say they weren’t fun. But too much of almost anything is TOO MUCH. And, as we all know, Utah Lake gots too many carp.
Don’t worry Joni. I left PLENTY for you and your fairy wand. Not likely to be a shortage in the forseeable future.
Fewwwww! Had me scared for a minute ![]()
