Jordanelle Trick or Treat 10-31-06

:sunglasses:Aren’t you the one who first said: “I’ve always wanted to be a procrastinator, but I keep putting it off?”

Better never late…or whatever.

Glad you been yakkin’ in God’s country…the northern California coastline. I have fished a lot of it, but from boats or shore…never from a tube or yak. Lotsa big fish there, but big water and big sharks too.

Love those ling cod. They are just plain nasty and cantankerous. You can’t use too big of bait or lures. They will eat anything that doesn’t eat them first.

Got quite a few new “hybrid” colors and glitter jobs. But, the most effective throughout the last six months has been my white glitter heads…with a chartreuse eye and black pupil. Absolutely kills just about every species. There is a picture of a roadrunner in that pattern in the cutt pic of this thread. They are also in pics for several other species…including wipers, catfish, perch, smallies, trout, etc. Good stuff.

Billy is still around. He and Kent have hooked up for a few trips this year. I’ll let Kent handle that part of the question.

I see Billy about every two weeks or so on a fishing outing. He has become by go-to fellow angler. We even made two hikes into the Uintahs this year chasing the arctic grayling. Send him a PM, he is still out there.

“it cost me over $600 in destroyed camera and broken reels”

Sorry to hear that Pat, those were some expensive bass and bluegills!

This is all very helpful. I think I will convince my better half to hold off on the float tube and that will give me a chance to meet up with you and try some out and maybe take a peek at the ISE. By the way, do you know who manufactures the Sportsman’s Warehouse brand tubes and tunes? There is a SW tube that looks just like that fish cat 4 and it is in the about the same price range, wondering if that is who makes it.

:sunglasses:Aire Manufacturing makes the Outcast products…Fish Cat, Fat Cat, etc. They also private label for big distributors. Sportsmans carries several of the Outcast/Aire craft in pontoons and tubes so that is likely the one you saw. If you ask one of the sales people they will confirm that.

The thing about those craft is that they almost never go on sale or have special prices. Sportsmans sells them for less than Cabelas (usually) but they don’t have sale prices. I have also never seen a special “show price” when they are displayed at a sports show. Outcast tends to hold their prices.

Brrr… looks cold!!!

Only cold fishing I dig is the ice fishing! [:)]

:sunglasses:Too bad the bigger perch, bigger slimers, and W didn’t wanna cooperate at Lake X…, but you’ve caught your fair share of all of those this year. Can’t wait for the ice fishing at Rock Cliff. Shouldn’t be much longer (month and a half or so?)…

:sunglasses:Ice fishing has been canceled this year, due to lack of interest.

BWA HA HA HA HAAAAAA!

The perch are setting up in their winter quarters right now. The only ones we caught were in almost the same places we caught them under the ice last year. Now all we need is for Mama Nature to get some cold flashes.

On the other hand, anyone who wants to play with troutskis can have a lot of fun just out from the ramp at Rock Cliff. We got smacked good, even in the wind, coming back in. And, one guy that had been braving the wind in his pontoon, waving a fairy wand, had two really nice rainbows as we came in. I was catching fish on the bottom, in 10 feet, with a little white roadrunner and had lots of hits before we couldn’t stand any more fun.

The bottle bait brigade on shore wasn’t getting any hits though. Then, of course they weren’t exactly geared for finesse trouting. One was using two half ounce egg sinkers with his silly putty rig. Another was fishing a worm and marshmallow combo…3 feet under a big bobber. What’s the purpose?

Almost anytime we got bored jigging for perch, all we had to do was throw a spinner in any direction and we got hits near the surface. There was one boat pulling pop gear that pulled in a few decent trout too. They were having a tough time trolling slow with the wind. As soon as they got just one degree out of line with the wind, it pushed the boat sideways and down the channel.

I was half planning a return trip, just to try for some browns and larger bows in shallower water near the inlet. However, I decided to hit Lindon tomorrow morning and will be going to Huntington on Tuesday…weather permitting. Might have to take an auger for my tube. You wish.

:sunglasses:Good luck out at Lindon. Hope you get into an ‘eye or two to stretch your string. Those "K"s are probably starting to hunker down, but if anyone can co-erse one into biting it’s you (darthead jig under an adjustable bobber with a chunk of chub, eh?). As for Huntington, good luck there too. You’re probably going to be floating along with some ice chunks, but maybe those tigers will be hungry and rarin’ to go.

Good luck at Lindon. Can’t wait to see how you did. It’s one of my favorite places to fish, I’ve had some really good fishing there this year, but not since Labor Day. Haven’t fished there for almost two weeks now. I’ll be hitting Fish Lake in the morning looking for some good perch. Hopefully no ice just yet.

:sunglasses:I’ll be tubing around the inside edges and then playing next to the docks. Usually some white bass and wallies coming inside by now. Also some crappies and bluegills if you can find and finesse them.

Not holding my breath on whiskerfish, but taking some chub minnows to drag by their noses to see if I can wake up a couple from their cool snooze. I’ll probably kick out by the bubbleup later in the morning if the W doesn’t get rowdy.

Of course I will shoot pics and post a report…even if it is of an empty basket (not yet this year).
