The comment about having caught them as far south at 40000 south intrigued me.
I only have fished the JR in the Lehi/Saratoga Springs area.
Are different fish species more prevalent in some areas of the river than in others. Prior to the tow cats caught earlier this week, I had only caught cats, no carp, walleye, or any type of bass.
I primarily fish between lehi Main street and the pumphouse.
Lastly, I sure hope you didn’t catch a small mouth bass in the Jordan… Don’t get me wrong, I love catching smallies, but I don’t think they’re supposed to be in there.
One morning last summer I caught about 5 smallies near the pump house. They are definitely in there.
Either way, that’s my first LMB on there. As you can tell it’s not very big but I was really excited when I caught it. Literally the day I bought that lure and did the first cast, he took it. Sadly after letting him go I got snagged on something and lost that lure. I thought I found the magic spot but sadly haven’t caught one since then at that spot or any of the spots I usually fish. How common are LMB in the Jordan and are any decent size?
That’s funny. As soon as I saw the pic I was wondering how you didn’t snag up in that river.
Yeah it’s pretty frustrating to have your lure get snagged literally the cast after you released one it caught . Especially since that river is dredged and vegetation/trees/etc were removed, the fish hang out near where any structure remains. Where I caught that little guy there must be a HUGE tree under water. I’ve tried throwing multiple angles/particular spots in that pool and you get snagged no matter what. The day I caught that LMB he just happened to be at a part which I now know is shallow lol.
