Last year around thanksgiving I purchased a Marcum LX-2 and loved fishing with it. The last two trips of the season it began to give me trouble though. Life got busy and I forgot about these instances. Tonight I pulled it out and was trying to get it to read anything but it wouldn’t. It seems to me that the the something is wrong with the transducer. If I remember correctly when i touched the transducer I could feel a vibrating… now there is absolutely nothing.
Has anyone had any similar experiences with ice fishing gear?
I just sent an email the customer service department of Marcum to see what they think so I’ll post what they have to say later.
I have the ice fishing itch already…
Hope

Looks like your stretching you ice fishing muscles getting ready for this years tourney!

As you know, Marcum products are made in America. I have found their customer service to be extremely helpful in the past. I am sure that you will get this resolved through them.
Now, on the flashers there are some brushes that can get old and need replacing. I doubt that yours is to that point after just one season usage. Those ducers seem to be very durable, so I would be surprised if your ducer is just going out. It’s hard to get them to read stuff w/out it being in the water. However, I have found that I can get it to show a response bouncing off my hardwood floor. It says it’s in 10’ of water but at leaste it reads something. Try different surfaces below.
If all else fails, I would give them a call on monday they’ll help you out for sure..
